Shouldn't their be a PDF accompaniment?

Any additional comments?

He often references handouts and supplementary materials that are "included". I understand this is a compilation of past programs, but it loses a lot of value when we are not able to reference these materials.

Maybe not for my demographic

I tried so hard to like this, I really did. Too many people have said nice things about Zig Ziglar for me to have not been tempted to try one of his books. I opted for this audiobook.

Where do I begin? He has a heavy 'southern priest' style of talking that's somewhat condescending and very old fashioned. I found it difficult to keep focused, and this wasn't helped by his frequent attempts at humor with his audience. Bad, bad grandfather humor. This all intertwined with inappropriate religious references and shamelessly feeding on the crowd for affirmation of the points he's making.

Despite the material originating from pre-Internet days, I'm sure he has lots of good things to say but I simply cannot bring myself beyond his old world delivery and style.

Heavy On Hype Low On Substance

Any additional comments?

Ziglar's talks are probably inspiring to anyone who likes listening to evangelical preachers, because he sounds like one (complete with the thick southern accent), and in fact he invokes Christianity at least once every 30 minutes as if other religions or values systems don't exist. He actually talks more about the importance of teaching leadership to the younger generation than about practical skills to make you, the listener, a better leader. This was a big disappointment and waste of money for someone who was looking for practical tips to relate better to diverse people in my professional life.

Some good stuff, but repetitive

What did you like best about Zig Ziglar’s Leadership & Success Series? What did you like least?

Zig has a lot of good points to make and does so with humor and stories. Unfortunately, this audiobook is a collection of recordings from a variety of souces and it is quite repetitive. It got tiresome to hear the exact same stories and the same jokes told multiple times. The repeated stories should have been edited out.

If you’ve listened to books by Made for Success and Zig Ziglar before, how does this one compare?

Where it's not repetitive, it's pretty good. I would say also that the subject matter is often not about leadership, or it's a force fit to make the matter about leadership.

What aspect of Zig Ziglar’s performance would you have changed?

I liked the energy of the live recordings; the studio interviews are not as strong.

Did Zig Ziglar’s Leadership & Success Series inspire you to do anything?

It was a good refresher on certain aspects about being successful.

Lessons from a Master motivator

What made the experience of listening to Zig Ziglar’s Leadership & Success Series the most enjoyable?

The use of humor to get his point across; insights into hard and smart work. Mr. Ziglar shares stories from his own past and the examples of others to help illustrate the points he makes.

Would you recommend Zig Ziglar’s Leadership & Success Series to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book to my friends. Now, some of my friends see 'success' as a matter of luck or fate--and surely there is an element of luck/fate that plays a role. However, "fate favors the prepared mind"... as one famous golfer put it (I think it was Lee Trevino, but not sure) "Golf is a game of luck... the harder I work, the luckier I get." Mr. Ziglar talks about the mental attitude and habits that you can adopt that can greatly improve your chances at success (whether 'success' financially, socially, personally, or however the listener would define 'success').

What does Zig Ziglar bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has good timing, rate, and vocal inflection that helps communicate his point. I also enjoyed the energy that he brings to his delivery... his sincerity and enthusiasm helps communicate the message more than just reading the words. I also liked that I could listen to it while out hiking or in my car during the commute...:)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was... it is a long book. I listened to much of it during a long hike... and the rest during my commute one day. I will listen to it again... of that I have no doubt.

Any additional comments?

I have often heard of Zig Ziglar. After listening to this book, I would consider him to be a cross between the traditionalist beliefs and examples of Napoleon Hill, and the energy and personalized delivery of Anthony Robbins...:) I plan on getting some more of his books to listen to in the future...:)

Often repetitive...

While i like the simple motivation and illustrations of the author, i found the Series, which encompasses several of his talks, was rather repetitive and maybe knowing this i would have found a way to get the specific talks i wanted. hope this helps.

Motivation

Although a bit repititous and yes, Ziglar has a very thick accent, I found this to be a very motivational collection of speeches. I have listen to and read many books on leadership & motivation and learned quite a few new things in this book.
