Publisher's summary

In 2013, Johnny B. Truant and Sean Platt published 1.5 million words and made their full-time livings as indie authors. In Write. Publish. Repeat., they tell you how exactly how they did it: How they created over 15 independent franchises across 50+ published works, how they turned their art into a logical, sustainable business, and how any independent author can do the same to build a sustainable, profitable career with their writing. Write. Publish. Repeat. explains the current self-publishing landscape and covers the truths and myths about what it means to be an indie author now and in the foreseeable future. It explains how to create books your readers will love and will want to return to again and again. Write. Publish. Repeat. details expert methods for building story worlds, characters, and plots, understanding your market (right down to your ideal reader), using the best tools possible to capture your draft, and explains proven best practices for editing. The audiobook also discusses covers, titles, formatting, pricing, and publishing to multiple platforms, plus a bit on getting your books into print (and why that might not be a good idea!). But most importantly, Write. Publish. Repeat. details the psychology-driven marketing plan that Sean and Johnny built to shape their stories into "products" that readers couldn't help but be drawn into - thus almost automatically generating sales - and explores ways that smart, business-minded writers can do the same to future-proof their careers. This audiobook is not a formula with an easy path to follow. It is a guidebook that will help you build a successful indie publishing career, no matter what type of writer you are...so long as you're the type who's willing to do the work.

A must read!

This book gave me all the information I've been looking for without a lot of BS. I've read or have listened to an extensive amount of books on writing and have found this jewel to be one of the most knowledgeable, inspiring and entertaining I've read to date.
Thank you gentlemen, job well done.

Great book

This overall is a great book. Maybe they talk too much about stories but they are fiction writers so tend to carry on. In the meat of the book they do offer some great suggestions on how to be an Indy writer and give good advice on what to do and not to do. I took many notes on various platforms and also ways to market my book.

excellent narrator

while the book is well written and very informative, the narrator, Simon Whistler, likewise does an outstanding job. pleasant voice and in the appendix takes that extra step to make himself sound like he's talking over a phone or recorder. great stuff.

Good Stuff from cover to cover.

What did you love best about Write. Publish. Repeat.?

I loved the pace and content of this book. Self promotion? Undoubtedly. Promotion is caught more than taught. Its what you will want to do as an author too. I love this book's "get over the myth of instant success and get to work" message. This is a personal look into the lives of these three artists (Yes, I said three. Read the book. ),as well as their work, failures, families and the fun the are having. The truth is, if you're an author, this is a helpful indie-pub encyclopedia as essential as your motivating morning coffee. The strategic and tactical elements and common sense " stop dreaming and get to work" voice is grounding as well as hopeful for those that want to make their art their business. Thanks Guys.G.Bobbitt Austin ,Tx

Solid Advice. Witty. And, Delightfully Crass.

"Write. Publish. Repeat" is likely the most well thought out, organized, and helpful guide that I've found thus far about productive authorship, publishing options and taking control of one's art and getting it into readers' hands (or on their screens or in their earbuds) that I have come across over the past several years of intent searching. Full of useful advice, techniques and encouragement, this book is for anyone who is serious about self-publishing and I'd recommend it for anyone considering the traditional route of a publisher other than themselves.

I have the feeling that I'd enjoy a beer or three with these guys. One usually wouldn't say that after reading a nonfiction book from the How-To genre. I thoroughly enjoyed their personalities coming through. It lends to a level of credibility and authenticity. And they made me chuckle now and then. My other half overheard the audio version of this book playing last night and he laughed out loud at something that they said. That laugh came from someone who basically tunes out and ignores any audiobooks that I'm listening to. It says a lot that they caught his attention.

The narrator does excellent job. Audible has opened a whole new world for me and sometimes I now look for other titles narrated by specific talent I've just enjoyed. I'm going to look for this narrator's work for sure.

Good entertaining guide to self publishing

I enjoyed Write. Publish. Repeat. It was informative, entertaining, and the narrator was very good. The book primarily focuses on fiction writing (I'm a non-fiction author), but the authors don't ignore non-fiction writers; I found sufficient helpful information and suggestions for my work to rate it as highly as I did. The authors are funny, witty, honest, and likeable guys, while also being good, thoughtful writers. I recommend this book if you're thinking about self-publishing.

Inspiring

I was worried about being a writer. This book put all those worries to bed. So instead of worrying about what. I worry about plot and characters.

Exactly what I needed

I am in the very early stages of writing and decided to do some research on techniques, resources, self publishing, and everything in general. Write. Publish. Repeat. gave me a lot of very useful information as well as inspiration. It helped me realize that my books (ideas) aren't as far from publication as I first thought.
