Publisher's summary

These days, everyone is busy. Advances in technology mean there is more information to sort through than ever. Work hours have increased, but to-do lists are endless - schedules get blown in the first five minutes of the day. You could spend more time “planning” and “prioritizing” your list than actually doing the work! At work and in life, we all just have too much to do! And when you have too much to do, it’s hard to feel productive.

If you can’t do everything, you need to put your time and energy into what will yield the more important results. Laura Stack shows how to hone in on the high-value tasks, protect the time to do them, focus on their execution, and organize your life around the stuff that really matters. Her innovative, step-by-step Productivity Workflow Formula (PWF) allows you to spend less time and achieve greater results than you ever thought possible. We can no longer do more with less - we can’t put in more hours or work harder than we are now - we have to work differently and do less to achieve more.

Let your boss pay for it

The examples are all about improving performance at work and being a better employee. Let your boss pay for that sort of training. With some imagination, I was able to translate the examples into overall performance tips, and did get a few good ideas. It was not worth the time or money.

A great guide for getting organized!

What did you love best about What To Do When There's Too Much To Do?

That it works! The suggestions in Laura's book actually work in practice.I have taken time to implement some of her advice (not all of them yet) and they have already helped me get more organized in my work. What I love the most is that it has helped me empty the 'clutter' in my head (as a working parent trying to remember all the things that have to happen, by when, both professionally and privately) and it has given me a peace of mind, knowing that nearly all my activites are 'registered' and planned for.

What other book might you compare What To Do When There's Too Much To Do to and why?

I have just embarked on a training program by FranklinCovey called the 5 Choices of Extraordinary Productivity, and I am pleased that the principles that Laura Stack and FranklinCovey are covering are similar and boil down to the same base fundamentals concerning self-management.

What does Laura Stack bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Laura has a nice way of telling her story. It was easy to listen to and the time passed really quickly; so quick I actually already listened to the book twice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really something that Laura specifically suggested, but in the early start of the book she talks about delegating, and how that is an important part of making sure that the 'right' things are done by the 'right' people. Her story triggered me in evaluating my own delegating skills and made me realize that rather than delegating tasks and activities, I could choose to delegate empowerment to others which is probably both more fun and more value added.

Any additional comments?

If you are looking to become more organized and effective - read the book. I am confident there are tips & suggestions to help you 'save time'.
