Good As his other book

this is a great book with lots of interesting things but it was quite similar to his other book that he put out lots of the same information. If you listen or read one you technically don't really need to listen or read the other one.

well written

I enjoyed listening to this book. It was read verbatim so it makes reference to images that you cannot see.

This ex-FBI agent knows his subject

I usually stay away from listening to non-fiction audio books. Even when the subject is interesting, several hours of paying attention carefully to one subject can make for heavy listening.
In this book, Joe Navarro is able to make the subject of understanding non verbal communication lively enough to be worth a listen. Yes, the listener must actively pay attention to learn something. This is not background listening.
However the ex-FBI agent’s words provide a clear ‘picture’ of the body language he is describing. He also uses anecdotes from his own cases that explain his points well and make the book more personal. Joe Navarro even does a fine job of narrating his own script.
I did not initially understand that I had to download the PDF as well as the book. I listened without it and still felt I understood enough to benefit from the book. I would encourage other readers though to download the affiliated PDF.
I will buy other works by this author if he writes more.

In Depth and Practical

This book gives an overview of body language and how one can interpret body position and movement along with its limitations of use. I found the verbal description easy to picture in my mind, and the PDF was helpful when needed.
I believe I will have a better understanding of how I am effecting others based on reading their comfort level.
I am very happy I bought the book and recommend it.

Listened to it 4 times so far!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand how others feel about a conversation or situation without having to rely only on the spoken word. We have a tendency to respond agreeably even if we don't feel it. This book helped me learn how to pick up unintended signals communicated via body language that is controlled by the reflex center of the brain as opposed to that portion of the brain we consciously control.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

We communicate loudly through our body language. The fun of it is understanding when a person's words conflict with what they are communicating with their body.

Mixed Feelings On This One.....

This book has some real positives - I learned a lot about the "subconscious" things that we can't control, or can only control to a degree. Many of the stories of interrogations were very interesting as well.

However, the author stated over and over that these things are only just PART of the whole picture, and that people can do many of these "tell-tale" things and really be telling you the truth. And to some degree, I thought there was a small to moderate degree of filler - primarily repeating things said before, or taking longer to say things than was necessary.

I would recommend having the PDF with you, or at least accessible, while you listen to this book. This book IS interesting and has a lot of good stuff....I just didn't think it was a great read.

Great topic but long way to get to the point

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This is a great book and great topic overall. I was looking more for applying it to business settings and it fell a bit flat on that.

Would you be willing to try another book from Joe Navarro and Marvin Karlins ? Why or why not?

Yes. I think they have the knowledge and the nuggets of information people are looking for. The trick is presenting it in the most effective way possible.

What did you take away from What Every BODY Is Saying that you can apply to your work?

Some body language tips. I am more observant now.
