I thought this was book was about TRUMP, but its about how George Ross negotiates for Trump, or likeTrump. But its excellent. Very good content, very detailed, and always brings the examples not only about Billion dollar deals, but simple consumer deals too. Normally I'm happy if I could use 10% of the books knowledge. This book is mostly content and not much fluff and I can use about 50% of the content. This book is about, well what the title says it is about. Very happy with the Narrator too.
“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” - Albert Einstein
It is a good listen and worth the time and money, but it might have been called George H. Ross's Style negotiation as Trump is not really that pivotal to most of the stories, wouldn't have sold as much though ;-)
And another comment, some examples are really deep into real estate jargon if you don't know about real estate (like me) you might catch your mind wandering around!
These guys have made so many real estate deals in their lives that it's just amazing listening to the stories George has to tell here. You sometimes have to really listen to understand the full meaning of the lesson being taught, but if you pay attention, you'll love this book.
This is one experienced and accomplished man who teaches us the art of negotiation. All his examples really help to drive the point arcoss.
Yes I would recommend, because it prepares you for the nastiness in a negotiation. You will learn not to be derailed by your own emotions (resentment, fear, anger, dissappoitment, etc) and achieve the final results. What I love about this books is that it does not sound like something taught in a classroom. I have read several books on negotiation, on different aspects of negotiation. This is the first book that tells you how nasty a negotiation in the real world can be. I realize, with two years working experience dealing with customers and colleagues, how well you handle emotions plays a pivotal role in how well you execute the principles. You can memorize everything the books describes, but in the end you are likely to be derailed by your own emotions. This book tells you upfront what to expect in a negotiation: "a lot of shit" and a lot of work, but with "a pony" as your grand prize. Through all the stories, this books shows only if you handle the shitty part successfully, will you find a pony. That pony is probably going to different from what you originally have in mind, but somehow still satisfying. The good advice on preparing documents, building relationships and gathering information are valuable. Ross is an excellent story teller. This books sometimes give the feeling of listening to your uncle by the fireplace. The narrator did a good job.
He has deep solid voice, and read at a consistent pace. The voice like that carries experience and credibility. I guess those qualities make him a good narrator for a reputable lawyer like George Ross.
This book contains advices that are important. So I don't think one should finish it within one sitting. You would spend your money and time in vain if you didn't taken the advice but only laughed at the stories. For example, the way to prepare documents are described like protocols, you would want to pause and write down what Ross suggested. I think this is where a .pdf companion book comes handy. Hopefully the publisher can provide that in the future.
One frustrating thing is that there is no kindle book directly purchasable on Audible. You have to buy it separately from amazon.
I really enjoyed the reading. I have purchased other books that probably have great content, but the way that it is read is a turnoff such that I can't finish the book. This was the total opposite. I'm actually listening to it a 2nd time!
Great content and details insights in real life negotiation. It gave a close up understanding to how Donald carry out his business.
What a refreshing book on negotiating. This is unlike any other book I've read. This has real (not regurgitated) content.
It is read very well and is very interesting to listen to. The "Trump" part of the title is on there more for the brand recognition, but the brains behind the book are from George Ross--who surprised me.
I wasn't expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised.
The book is not particularly great. I came across more helpful titles in the topic of negotiation. This is not the right book for someone who seeks a comprehensive book for negotiation, its mechanism and tactics.
It's a very good book. Both the content and the narration are 5 stars.
His voice is perfect for the book. It's like the author himself gave a seminar on the topic.
"A book full of good tips!"
The author of this book is best known for his role as advisor to Donald Trump on the apprentice, however, he has be a key player in negotiating real estate contracts in New York for Donald Trump and Sol Goldman among others. His book is well written and full of tips and tactics for negotiating in any situation.
Ross goes through a myriad of information such as building trust, uncovering weakness and valuable information, being a salesman and painting a picture, using delays and deadlines to your advantage, becoming an expert on your topic, planning multiple solutions before negotiations, keeping a deal journal, dealing with difficult people, do's and don'ts of negotiations nad much much more.
The stories which Ross uses to illustrates his points are colourful and interesting. Some of which are morally questionable on the surface but continue listening and his reasons for detailing them become clear. His background in negotiation and his 50 years of experience give Ross a unique insight into a complicated area which he uniquely explains.
I would suggest anyone who is in business to listen to this book. Whether your negotiations are big or small, this book will certainly save you what you spend on the book and much much more!

I thought the advice was good but quite heavily geared towards real estate. There are some references made to everyday situations, but I would have liked to see more.
"Stay away from this.. Boring"
It does give some good tips but you have to listen for a long period to get a simple answer
Repeats himself over and over again
Not really, most of the information is really basic and he covers it repeatedly
Stay away from this.. Boring
Even if you like or dislike Trump this is an interesting listen about conducting business in general and some good stories from the real estate scene in New York.
