This is a very long, 44 hour, sales pitch promoting his Australian based "academy," "seminar," or "home course." Also, it is very hard to differentiate Napolean's words from his twists and interpretations.
I was excited, as I think these are a collection of classics. I was totally dissapointed. Somehow, in my download, part one started halfway through the book. I never did find the beginning of "Think & Grow Rich". The narrator spoke waaay toooo faast! Listening to this series, one would think the narrator was paying for studio time by the second and spoke as fast as he could. Way too hard to listen to. Too bad, it was a great idea and one that should have been a great collection to my library. My advice, don't waste your money, look for another narrator.
I will try to buy a different version of think and grow rich
Jamie McIntyre tries to teach people ways to get rich quick. As a Dave Ramsey follower, I truly believe that these get rich quick schemes not only area quick way to financial ruin, but also a way to end relationships. Instead of looking for get rich quick schemes, offer not only long term wealth building advice, but also suggestions of plans used that helped people in various financial ruin situations. Stories from the individuals themselves of how they bounced back would be great. If you wish to cut ties with your relationships for profit gain, buy this version!
The reader spoke way too fast, and the chapters skipped mid-chapter. Worst audiobook version I purchased.
Anger. The idea of asking for your parent's inheritance early is an example. My stepfather and mother are currently in a position where they have to work until their last days instead of enjoying the fruits of their hard work for the very reason of his kids asking for inheritances early. Do not put that on your parents. Money or financial gain is not worth the misery of others. Whatever situation you are in, the storm will pass. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Put your faith in God, and don't give up. You will reach the goal to financial freedom if you follow a plan.
I want my money back on this book.
The good thing about this is Napoleon Hill's original text. The rest of it is dozens of hours of complete rubbish thrown in their by Jamie McIntyre.
Just buy Napoleon's original text (5 stars) and skip this Mega pack of crap.
Don't buy this package. The narrator is the worst. Horrid. I say that in hopes he reads this and stops tormenting us. The information must be useful but not when read by someone so inept. He can't spit out the words fast enough and that's alot faster than you can digest what is said. Don't buy this. If you want the material, get it in another form or by another narrator.
No. Narrator butchers so many words I keep shutting the thing off rather than hear more.
Not really the type of material that would translate well.
Every school child learns about Copernicus, and can probably render the name better than CupperNIKus. When he refers to a speech impressing those assembled at a dinner, the people are not 'diners' but are 'dinners'.... Or perhaps it was the food that was impressed and not the people at all.
The latest mangling has me not listening for a couple of days now. In explaining the birth of Islam the narrator says that Arab children were sent into the desert where they were raised by.... prepare for it..... 'Bodines'. Bo-deens. Now I don't know why the kinfolk of Jethro from the Beverley Hillbillies took it upon themselves to move to the deserts of the Middle East to raise Arab kids, but I'm pretty sure the Bedouins don't like the practice.
Now I remember why I stopped listening last year.... I'd like to glean what information I can from this book (or books I think) but the wholesale slaughter of language is really harshing my mellow, man.....
There is a lot of varied and somewhat helpful information.
I would have liked the book to be better organized so that I can listen to the relevant parts that I needed and then come back to the other parts as I needed them. (e.g. investments, real estate)
MAJOR pronunciation errors. Some repetition in the narration. The narrators reading is monotonous for the first 2 or 3 sections, and is extremely hard to stay awake with.
I would have liked a more lively reader for the base book "Think & Grow Rich".
The second professional narrator-reader (I have only gotten through half of the mega pack) gave a much much better reading with more naturalistic intonation.
The description of the book plays off the icon of "Think & Grow Rich" but the personal interests of the Jamie McIntyre should be made more fully clear. I understand that he may be very successful and even helpful but the majority of the book does not reflect ANY of the concepts of the base book.
(I'm still trying to get through)
I will listen to this once a year! I do not agree with the other review that said it's a very long info-mercial. I found it to be solid and filled with great principles. Of course, Napoleon Hill's material is the highlight.
My Opinion's for your review, Thank You!
WOW! what a lot of information to process. This audio pack has a lot of in formation 44 plus hours of positively valuable information. The information is meant for an Australian audience but wow how relevant it also is for anyone interested in becoming a Millionaire or already is a millionaire. This collection of books is priceless. Even though I'm an American the perspective an Australian is different and refreshing. Some of the books are long on information and can be hard to follow as you remind yourself some of this information is outdated but still relevant in its own way (laws change everyday). I'm really enjoying MEGA PACK of information, now all I have to do is act on it.
I wasnt impressed with the "Think and Grow Rich" book. With all the hype that sorrounds this book you would think it was the best business and sales book since sliced bread, it's not all that and is mostly a bunch of pchyco-babble and i didnt find anything really useful in the real world as far as running a business goes
"Too tiring and too many errors"
Narrated at a hundred miles per hour which gets really tiring. Far too many pronunciation mistakes as well (Richard Bronson rather than Branson for example.
In the second book (Jamie McIntrye) there are whole chapters that are word for word repeats of previous ones.
Some interesting ideas but nothing really new.
"Take a chill pill!"
I agree with the first reviewer. This guy speaks at 500 miles an hour. Its actually tiring. you don't get time to contemplate or take in what is being said, even though what is being said is quite profound. I'm not sure how much more I can take, I'm sort of enjoying it but at the same time getting frustrated with its pace. There is no need for it to be that fast. Its almost as if they have edited it post production to fit into a certain time allowance. In addition, this book is in 7 parts and after downloading it there doesn't seem to be any labels for which book is which. Just 7 files of different lengths all just called 'Think & Grow Rich - Mega Audio Pack'. Are we supposed to just guess? Even on the commentary it doesn't tell you which book you are actually listening to! I find this a bit ridiculous when its a 44 hour audio programme!
In summary, good content (I think) but read too fast and very difficult to figure out what you are listening to.
My main gripe with this audio book is not the quality of the content per se, but the ridiculous speed at which the American narrator speaks. It really is tiring. I just can't understand how the makers of this audio book actually thought it would be ok to have someone narrate without any regard for punctuation or even just taking a breath between sentences now and again. And anyone who pronounces Circular Quay as 'Circular Kway' should be banned for life in my opinion. Typical Yankees.
"So much information"
There is not only a spectacular amount of information in this collection but also a range of resources. Normally I would be very careful to use the word "motivational" but it certainly has made me to stop thinking about doing something, which I am very good at, and start finding out about things and acting. It certainly has got me moving.
"Sexist, wide-eyed capitalist, probably dangerous"
Making friends and influencing people
It may be worth picking the bones out of, audio is the wrong format unless you have a photographic memory. I will certainly have to listen where I have opportunity to take notes in order to attempt to get anything out of it.
There may be something worthwhile lurking within this book, but it is heavy on you buying into the authors somewhat sexist and extremely credulous hero worship of the successful he has mined for his theories. It's a preachy book from a salesman, selling, mostly cash with only the occasional nod to quality of life - to this man the American Dream is all, and faultless.
"Only the 1st section is worth listening to"
The actual Think & Grow Rich section is excellent but then its padded with nonsense from commercialised Australian get rich quick course sellers.
"Prepare to be inspired."
A must read/listen for every entrepreneur, in fact if you've ever had a dream, if you've ever been told you can't, if you want to be inspired then purchase this set. This book will not only do all that but it will give you the tools to motivate you towards fulfilling your wants, needs and desires , with morals intact. If you only ever buy one book set in your life, this should be it.
"if you have read the original get this."
if you have read the original get this. I wasn't sure about this or any follow up / companion to such a classic but this is worth getting.
make it more exciting
no, too slow
should cut in half, too long.
it's not what I expected from this book.
