The Trophy Effect is an innate, subconscious force that causes human beings to focus on their shortcomings, rather than on their accomplishments. As a result, we are inclined to feel more doubtful than hopeful and are more likely to give up on things rather than stay the course. Moreover, because The Trophy Effect is tied directly to our survival instinct (our "reactionary mind"), it is so well concealed that we do not even know that it is occurring. Therefore, we are not aware that The Trophy Effect is something over which we can exercise full control by simply learning how to do so!

Michael is a true master of human psychology who had an amazing gift for explaining things in an engaging and easy to understand way. I Highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to play full out and lead an extraordinary life. Isn't this what we should all be striving for ?
I am a student of human motivation and have read and listened to many 100s of books. I found this one remarkably smug and condescending. The author acts like he's invented electricity with his one idea (which, incidentally, is a good one). However, many people have talked about it before him and, I might add, more eloquently. Save your time and money.
