The business titans and number-one New York Times best-selling authors of Winning return with a modern, essential guide for everyone in business today - and tomorrow - that explores the most pressing challenges related to creating winning strategies, leading and managing others, and building a thriving career.
In the decade since their blockbuster international best seller Winning was published, Jack and Suzy Welch have dug deeper into business, traveling the world; consulting to organizations of every size and in every industry; speaking before hundreds of audiences; working closely with entrepreneurs from Mumbai to Silicon Valley; and, in 2010, starting their own fully accredited online MBA program, which now has approximately 1,000 students enrolled. Over the same timeframe, Jack has advised more than 75 companies through private equity and dozens more in a senior advisory role at IAC. Now Jack and Suzy Welch draw on their experiences to address the biggest problems facing modern management - and offer pragmatic solutions to overcome them.
Going beyond theories, concepts, and ideologies, they tackle the real stuff of work today. When you get down to it, they argue, winning in business is all about mastering the gritty, inescapable, make-or-break, real-life dilemmas that define the new economy, the old economy, and everything in between. Work is a grind. We just got whacked. My boss is driving me nuts. I'm stuck in career purgatory. My team has lost its mojo. IT is holding us hostage. Our strategy is outdated the day we launch it. We don't know what our Chinese partners are talking about. We're just not growing. These are some of the day-to-day issues the Welches take on. Coupled with Jack's years of iconic leadership and Suzy's insights as former editor of the Harvard Business Review, their new database of knowledge infuses The Real-Life MBA with fresh, relevant stories and equally powerful solutions that every manager at any level can use right now.

Overall the book is a promotion of today's keep up with the trends tome with several seeming product specific comments (dare I say commercials) in the first half of the book. It would make ok copy for distribution at one of their speaking engagements.
This is one of the better business books I have listened to. It truly clarified several aspects of business that are critical. Instead of writing a long review I would just encourage you to listen to to the book. It's definitely worth your time.
Part One - Its about the Game -
Chapter 1 - Taking the Grind out of the Game
Chapter 2- Getting Whacked and Getting Better
Chapter 3 - You Gotta Have Growth
Chapter 4 - Globalization - “It’s Complicated”
Chapter 5 - Fear of Finance no More
Chapter 6 - What to Make of Marketing
Chapter 7 - Crisis Management
Part 2 - It’s About the Team
Chapter 8 - Leadership 2.0
Chapter 9 - Building a “Wow” Team
Chapter 10 - Geniuses / Tramps / Thieves
Part III Its ABOUT YOU
Chapter 11: What Should I Do With My Life?
Chapter 12: Getting Unstuck
Chapter 13: It Ain’t Over Until it is Over
Every Chapter added value.
As a listener of about 80 books in this zone it has a few good nuggets to add to your brain. Winning is still my favorite from Jack and Good to Great by Jim Collins is always the top pick for this subject.
After 30 years of leadership experiences I was refreshed by a very pragmatic and positive reminder of what I know, what I knew, and what had been forgotten. Read the book and listened to the audio as reinforcement. Outstanding
Well read. There is gold in this book so maybe it should garner 5 stars but I wanted more depth in some areas. Again, maybe that's a testament to the book.
It is the best I have ever listened to. An absolute must for any and every career. Listen or read it over and over and you will get something new with every pass!
