Publisher's Summary

This book contains a simple and effective sales system for the personal trainer. Whether you’re a seasoned health club veteran seeking some innovative sales techniques to add to your bag of tricks or you’re brand new to the personal training industry and are in need of a complete personal training sales system that will hand you the tools to rapidly generate a top level income in your gym, you’ve come to the right place.

This entire system is designed to be easy to use. It's not just some book full of sales techniques that have been randomly thrown together. Instead, it’s a complete step-by-step system that has been carefully broken down into bite-sized chunks that are easy and fun to do.

Here is just some of what you'll find inside this book...

  • Exactly how to overcome objections before they even come up
  • How to get your client to attach an enormous amount of amazing feelings to your training, and yourself (be careful with this one, its powerful stuff!)
  • Exactly what to say when your client says “I need to think about it”
  • How to associate buying personal training sessions as the perfect solution to their reason for joining the gym (more specific to the point, how to do it in the first ten minutes of meeting them!)
  • A detailed 5 step sales process designed specifically for the health club environment
  • How to close the deal without having to ask for the sale (this legendary technique will have your clients already planning their next 20 sessions in their mind before their first sessions is even over!)
  • The only two prospecting techniques you’ll ever use in your club & a secret weapon that will give you a month long waiting list of motivated gym members dying to workout with you!
  • How to uncover the client’s true emotional reason for being here & how to use their answer to gain a client for life!
  • How to raise the value 100 times higher than the price by using these few simple words
  • Why your clients will lie to you about why they’re really here, and the ONE questioning technique that will create instant rapport and an ever-lasting trust
  • Word-for-Word, how to overcome objections when they do come up
  • Exactly what to do when you’ve run out of new members in your gym to approach (Some trainers keep their hours over-booked consistently using nothing else but this method)

If you are a trainer who works in a health club and possesses that rare deep down burning desire to be the very best at what you do, then prepare yourself to enjoy the rewards that are limited to those few people who never allow themselves to settle for anything less than the very best of who they are, and who they know they can become.

    "good info"
Where does The Personal Training Sales Education Textbook rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well that wouldn't be a fair comparison since this is the only audiobook I've listened to on this subject. Dumb question.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

uuhh, good ending I guess. Talks about the renewal cycle and how to build long term relationships with clients, how to re-sign them, etc etc.

Have you listened to any of Robert B. Weir’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but he sounds very professional, has a clear voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to all of it in two cardio sessions.

    Any additional comments?

This is not really a "sales" book. It does explain basic sales skills that are well pretty basic (i.e. difference between open and closed questions, etc.) but I still like this book for two reasons...

    1. The author does a fine job of applying these sales skills (the basic and more advanced ones that are talked about in 2nd half of book) to VERY environment specific situations (i.e. working with a first-time client in a health club setting).

    2. The sales process is tight. Its broken down into 5 steps and then broken down into more steps from there including role-plays between the trainer and client which is very cool to listen to. And I tell ya what, some of the techniques may sound like tricks but they are not. They are a form of conversational NLP hypnosis which I've learned about from many sources. Never though have I seen anyone apply this tech to our industry, so if you are a pt in a gym it worth the read.

"If your Nasm certified you don't need this book"
Would you try another book from Tim Tierney and/or Robert B. Weir?

    Eh,

Has The Personal Training Sales Education Textbook turned you off from other books in this genre?

Meh, it was cheap so I would purchase other books hoping for some insight, hopefully other books in the future, will actually be insightful, this book however wasn't. If your Pt courses covered sales, then this book is a waste of money, Nasm didn't get very detailed about sales, and this book offers even lesser insight than my Nasm Pt course, I would reccommend, getting a regular marketing or business book, and using that as your guide.

What does Robert B. Weir bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would never read a book this vague, its sort of like when your in the book store, and you read the table of contents, and then skim a few pages, and see that your basically reading a pamphlet because no real information is contained in the pages of the book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really, someone will read this review and still buy the book anyways, I mean if you don't have time to pull the information out of your pt course about sales, then this is like a half-ass substitute, if you need to think about ways to increase your sales, but overall its just better to get a regular sales book and apply it to pt sells

    Any additional comments?

the book kind of contains some shady tactics, you know the kind that when people try to use, you shut them down.
