The Arbinger Institute has helped millions with their books Leadership and Self-Deception and The Anatomy of Peace. Their newest book, The Outward Mindset, reflects their latest research and experience and offers a new and intuitive way to teach people how to implement mindset change in themselves and scale it across organizations, with incredible effect.
One's mindset governs how one views the world, what one does, and how one does it. One's mindset can be self-focused, which Arbinger calls an inward mindset, or it can be inclusive of others, which Arbinger calls an outward mindset. It turns out that our own actions, and others responses to those actions, end up being dramatically different depending on which mindset we are operating from.
The Outward Mindset teaches listeners how to shift more fully to an outward mindset and how to help others, even whole organizations, to make that shift - a shift that sparks innovation, increases accountability, and transforms collaboration, engagement, and fulfillment.

The 3 phase in understanding and implementing the Arbinger concepts. Follows well the previous two books to give and understanding and implementation strategy.
A well written book with compelling stories that illustrate the effect of mindset on life and business. Detailed personal and business case studies make the subject real and make the application of the principles clear. It's an eye opener when you honestly review you life decisions in the light of these principles.
The topic of "outward mindsets" is worthy, the predictable Arbinger Institute self-promotion was unfortunate.
Given the good work they do, this felt like "inner mindset" did the writing.
It is an important idea. Not as innovative as their previous books.
Narrator's voice was not my favorite.
This is a good book however it was hard to listen to while driving... the books refers to a lot of graphs that you can look at it you only have the audible version...
Too often in life, we do what we have to do so that we can get to what we want to do. The faster we complete the "have to's", the faster we get to the "get to's". The problem is it never works! Many times as a leader you have to go back and help fix the mistakes or you have to pull an employee into your office, which takes time away from what you already had on your plate. We have all been there right.
The Outward Mindset teaches us, through real life examples, that the quickest way to achieve the results we want is to slow down and take the time to think about the "other" person. By focusing on what the other person needs, you put them in a situation where they then think how they could help you.
All of them, Chip
The beginning, middle, and end.
