Good advice, but needs to be updated

The authors need to update this book. I keep trying to adjust numbers used, like most amount ever spent on a car, as of 1995 and adjust for inflation to 2005. A $30,000 car in 1995 is not a $30,000 car in 2005. But, what is it? Is it $40,000, $35,000, or $50,000?

Other than that, a lot of good, common sence advice that is good to be reminded of. Also, it was fun to try to figure out which of my upper middle class neighbors are on EOC based on their lifestyles.

Insightful

I believe this book is life changing, not on a dramatic level but within the practical elements of life. Having a understanding of who you are and where you want to be, is very important and this book will help with the self reflection process in order to become a millionaire or affluent individual you may desire to be.

Fully recommended!

Pivotal life-changing moment in listening to this.

This is my first review for an audible book (from the many I have listened to) as I am compelled to encourage others to are fence-sitting on purchasing and listening to it.

While the content is dated (early 90's), the lessons and insights have not lost their power and impact. Maybe I'm the perfect candidate in the right time and situation to have this so powerfully make me rethink where I am and where I want to be, but it's due to the insights from the research done by the original authors that have finally broken me out of my denial and lifted the veil of my own ignorance on "income" vs "wealth".

Credit goes to the narrator Cotter Smith, for his even tone and delivery.

Highly recommended!

Buy Copies for Everyone!

On a recent plane ride from Florida to California I found myself seated next to a real estate broker. As we chatted, she told me that I had to listen/read The Millionaire Next Door, before I did anything else. I'm so glad that I took her advice. Books come to us when we're ready. I sure wish I had been ready to receive this profound knowledge years ago. I'm hopeful though, and I fully intend to use the incredible knowledge I gleaned from this book to become a true millionaire. Thank you Audible, for another amazing listening adventure! #millionairenextdoor #lifealteringbook #anyonecandoit #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Worth a listen, but now outdated.

This was an interesting book that I read years ago and revisited as an audio book. The research is fascinating and sheds some light on widely misunderstood facts about the wealthy in America and how they gained their wealth. Chris Hogan recently released a book, The Everyday Millionaire, to expand on and update the information presented in this book.

Completely Wonderful a Must Read

This book showed me where I went wrong on life financially. It also gave me ways to make my situation better. Most of all it showed me ways I can get my children on the right path to become financially affluent. Completely loved this book. I will read and listen to it again.

Great information!

There's a lot of great insight into how many millionaires make and keep their money. It was a really long book and hard to finish but it's definitely worth it

A must read

although the writing can be dry at times, and it may need a few reads over to catch all the information in this book, I could not believe how much this information opened my eyes. it accurately predicted everything that happened to parts of my family once my grandmother died. not only did it explain the situation to a T, it explained the whys and more in depth analysis of how a situation could happen. no matter who you are, you fall into the financial mindset categories that are detailed in this book. After better listening to this audiobook, i have a far better understanding of my strenghts and more importantly my weaknesses are when it comes to finances, saving and investing. i already started recommending this book to people and discussing the topics long before I even finished the book. i highly reccomend this to everyone who cares to improve themselves. dont worry if you dont catch every sentance, the parts that stick will hit you like a ton of bricks.

After 20 years, this proves to be the most important work in My and my family's investment

I read this book when it was released. My uncle gave me a copy with his notes written in a couple years later. It's truths could guide anyone to being a millionaire, and to having a more meaningful and enjoyable life along the way. it explains the far too frequent difference in mentality and results between the have and the have-not's. It reveals that a person's level of wealth is far less dependent on their income and circumstances then most might imagine. Good luck and blessings to those who read it and follow it's timeless advice.
