"By far the best book on investing ever written." (Warren E. Buffett)
No logic chapter breaks, cannot reasonably match it up with a print version. Absolutely useless.
Nothing. Can't even use it.
Building a solid foundation for a financial portfolio without understanding how to construct one can be extremely difficult to fit an individual's situation. The ideas and theories in this book are sound enough for your average person.
This is the ABRIDGED version and it is NOT the MOST CURRENT - there is a revised edition that is more relevent. don't buy this one
Excellent financial primer
(Title just a stunt)
Very poignant, wish they consider continuing the historical practice of updating with a revised addition every 5 yrs.
Super good and very simple, Warren buffet's favorite!
Make sense if you follow this book yes you can be rich or have a very comfortable life, it is about the basic and having consistency!
The main thing that disappointed me was that even though this is very good timeless economic advice, that probably is Benjamin Graham related, it is not the book "The Intelligent Investor". After listening to it, I am not sure what it is.
Perhaps an unabridged investment book that is a classic.
If they explained what this audio book truly is. It appears to be investment advice based on Benjamin Graham's book. It could possibly be an abridgement. It is also very short.
Yes! It is very good investment advice, and investment advice is usually a lot more expensive than this.. If you act on this advice, you might make back a lot more than one audio credit.
I know this book is supposed to be a classic, and I'm sure there are many valuable lessons to be extracted from it, but I think one would be better off buying the latest revision of the book rather than this audio book.
This audio book is like a good wine that has been lying too long in the cellar. It just seems so dry, and out of date, and the reader is terribly monotonous. He talks about "this tape" and refers to 1971 as "now". Come on! Get someone more lively to read it.
I listen to audio books when I'm running and have enjoyed many books on Investing that way. I've attempted to listen to this one twice, but never get past the first 30 minutes. The sound of tumbleweed in my head just becomes unbearable. I might try reading the book instead.
"Excellent book but can be difficult"
You'd find it hard to find a better book on value investing than this one. Written over 50 years ago there have been many newer versions printed with updates on the numbers and with recommendations from people such as Warren Buffett it has to be worth the money.
A few things you need to understand before reading/listening is what the difference between common stocks and bonds of all kinds are and also what the DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial Average) is. With these basics under your belt the book makes good listening/reading. Can be tough to get through if it's the first time you are reading about investing but keep reading/listening... you'll be glad you did.
This book won't make you rich in the short term but certainly could lead to riches in the future!! Good Luck and enjoy!
I am a follower of Warren Buffet and I found out that Benjamin Graham being his teacher. I rushed to read more. I have read books by Robert Kiyosaki and found that Benjamin cut to the core of value investing than any modern day investors guide. I can see why this man is attribute to creating the investors bible called "Security Analysis".
Word of warning, "Security Analysis " reads like a physics textbook, I advise buying the kindle version. Since there are charts and other things you will need to review. IF you want a summary of the idea's he outlined in the book. This book is the next best thing.
It connected to something that I have tried to reconcile my whole life. In this modern day, there are so many quick rich schemes and snake oil sales men telling you how to make money quick. There are fundamental things in this book that reaffirmed my ideology and my slow and stead approach to stock investing.
The breakdown of fund and index trackers. Showing how Trackers over the long period was better performing through mathematical representation.
"Concise and easy to follow"
The old basics still ring true today and you can see why this is Warren Buffet's bread and butter. Certainly not the only book I'll be reading to further my stock trading knowledge but a great base to build from.
"What a book and what a narrator!"
This is a classic book on value and I am not sure whether the narrator was asked to cut short his time (to get the best value) He seems to be in a hurry and I would recommend buying the book itself. In the end thats what I did. The narrator did cause me a serious headache.
I do not have to talk about the value of this book and the contents in it , he only reason I put up with the narrator and heard the full audio for only one and only time.
Please read the previous reviewers comment and I would strongly recommend audible to do the book with a new narrator.
The remaining 2 stars as a negative only because of the audio format (the narrator again)
"a must read"
this book is a must read when it comes to value investing. The examples, however, are quite old but the guideline can be applied and must be applied for long term investment strategy. In short, if you like speculate (scalping, day trading, swing trading and so on) this book is not for you.
