Publisher's summary

The classic best seller by Benjamin Graham, perhaps the greatest investment advisor of the 20th century, The Intelligent Investor has taught and inspired hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Since its original publication in 1949, Benjamin Graham's book has remained the most respected guide to investing, due to his timeless philosophy of "value investing", which helps protect investors against areas of (possible) substantial error and teaches them to develop long-term strategies which they will be comfortable with down the road.

Among this audiobook's special features are the use of numerous comparisons of pairs of common stocks to bring out their elements of strength and weakness and the construction of investment portfolios designed to meet specific requirements of quality and price attractiveness.

very useful, unfortunately abridged

This book is extremely valuable for any investor. It gives you the plateform to become a true investor rather than speculator. But, unfortunately it is not available as unabridged. If you get unabridged than you are very lucky and go ahead beore spending your hard earned money unintelligently

Great Investment Advice

What did you love best about The Intelligent Investor?

Timeless advice on how to invest. Lots of good tips and insights into what it takes to become an intelligent investor.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Intelligent Investor?

1. Warren Buffett rates this as the best book on investment he has ever read.
2. The fact that most times we lose money it is from speculating not from investing and that the greatest enemy of the investor is himself.

What about Bill McGowan’s performance did you like?

He does a good lively naration

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was better to keep coming back and soaking up the gems offered by Graham in the book

Any additional comments?

Investing vs. Speculation

This is a philosophy of investing money in stocks and bonds. It examines the behavior of the market since the depression and illustrates the futility of trying to time the market or outsmart people who spent 100 hours a week doing this for a living. Hedge fund managers work from 4AM to 8PM every day chasing investments. Can you hope to beat them by spending 30 minutes a day? Absolutely not! You have to take a different tact than they do. Graham's value investing is one such tact.

Great content but delivery needs work

The content was very informative and likely have a huge impact on my life as I begin to enter the world of investing but the narrator's style of delivery was akin to that of a University lecturer... and not the good type of lecturer either.

Great overview but not very specific

I only read this because of warren Buffett. But this won't get you to the next step. Going to try security analysis next. Hoping for more specifics.

Interesting thoughts on portfolio theory

Building a solid foundation for a financial portfolio without understanding how to construct one can be extremely difficult to fit an individual's situation. The ideas and theories in this book are sound enough for your average person.

Wisedom of decades you won't get anywhere

Pure wisdom that you cab earn from this author which he earned in decades, his focus is on long term income, dividend stocks to have consistent returns over surprises and reinvesting money back to attain more, writer fave good examples of how stay away and forget stocks and get leader influenced by stock with tied shuffling price. Also not to sell stocks right after result or buy them but strike price plays a different role when you think of dividend a stronger with little diversified portfolio

Solid, but not much depth

Good for someone who has no clue where to start, but not detailed enough for those whose already have their feet wet and may be looking for more detailed advice
