I found this book very inspiring and helpful in picking me up and helping me to stay focused to be the best that I can be,
Looks like the author wondered "how do I write a book when all of my ideas contain in just one page? I know I'll write a dopy back story set in ancient times. I'll add some cliche religious undertones for respectability". I recommend passing on this one.
This book is not what it pretends to be. It's something altogether different and I don't appreciate the lack of transparency.
I love (audio)books.
I read this book when I was 12. And after that, I read all Og Mandino's books. I bought the Audible version, but Og's breathing is so intense that seems like he is breathless. The paper version is a better call.
Beyond the biblical allegory that Og Mandino has so brilliantly portrayed is a book of surprisingly sound advice on business and life in general. The story is captivating and I found myself not being able to leave my car long after my commute was over.
The beauty of this story is its lasting effect on the reader. It is so motivational that I find it hard to not be moved to take action in the immediate aftermath. Exceptional narration and an even better story.. a true classic. Overall, a quick listen that you will in no way ever regret.. nor forget!

This book is good to listen to for inspiration. It doesn't lean too much on biblical referance, but does touch on it. I think its a delitful story and good habits to follow.
I'm not much of a reader but I am a great listener. I like to listen to an audiobook before I decide its worth buying the book in print.
Og Mandino is great at telling a story and give meaning to every sentience. This audio book may be old but its message is as good today as it was in the passed. It inspires me every morning I'm Glad I found it.

Og Mandino writes a biblical story which is portrayed as a sales book. Or the other way around, I am not quite sure. Anyway, the story is about how the best Salesman in the world around the year 33 AD came by his extraordinary wealth. Apparently, this is due to 10 scrolls with eternal wisdom on it, like do your best every day, live as if this day is the last of your life, love everyone around you, act act act, etc. All good as such, but not new (maybe at the time) and owing homage to Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie.
But the story is very slow and although the book is short, I felt it dragged on a bit. Also due to the repetition within the scrolls. Mandino says you should do one scroll every week/few weeks and I think he might be right. In one go, it is boring.
That in the end it is the apostle Peter who receives the scrolls was a bit too much for me.
Now, the book is not all bad and outdated. Certain scrolls give a fresh perspective on how to behave in life as well as in sales situations. For that, I give it 3 stars. For the limited price and time, it has enough value.
The reading of Og Mandino takes some getting used to, he has quite a strong accent.
Yes, I bookmarked each scroll and listen to the same scroll daily for 21 days, then I move on to the next scroll. Og Mandino struggled with depression and even contemplated suicide. It's truly inspiring that he can overcome his personal issues and create this masterpiece that inspires others to be THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD!
I like that the book, whether intentional or unintentional, metaphorically relates people to salesmen. The scrolls help the main character learn the secret of being a good salesman, but in reality, they apply to all aspects of life. I love when an author is able to teach valuable, life-long lessons through stories rather than pounding lesson after lesson in our heads. Additionally, I love that the scrolls are in first person. It's crazy but being able to hear the words in first person helps when your brain triggers the memory of those words.
While his voice is a bit hard to listen to, I was able to overcome it knowing his past. With Mandino narrating, I was able to truly feel the power of his words and feel it would have been lacking by another narrator.
The most important lesson I learned is that it's never too late. In life, many things happen outside of our control and that can be incredibly frustrating. However, it's what we choose to do with these outside forces that make or break our success. Through the scrolls, I learned that everything is relative; along with beauty, happiness and success are in the eye of the beholder. The only person who can make you be the greatest salesman (person) in the world is you. The only person stopping you from being the greatest salesman (person) in the world is you. And how? Through habit. "In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the differences of their habits. Good habits are the key to all success."
