This book is rich with wisdom and practical advice. It is up close and personal in the real life of pastoral ministry so it is extremely relevant. But be warned. This book will challenge you personally and calls for change in the culture, practice and expectations in typical evangelical church leadership. If you are serious about cultivating a personal transforming relationship with Christ that fuels your life and leadership. This book is for you.
Peter Scazzero uses wisdom and experience to help Christian Leaders understand the daily and long haul tasks it takes to be a, not only a follower of Christ, but a humble leader as well.
Excellent wisdom and insight. I learned so much from this book, I would definitely seek to read this book at least once a year... because it is so full of information I doubt one can obtain it all in one setting. May God Bless the writer of this book, because it will help so many from falling into the same traps or getting lost in oneself
Very reflective and convicting but practical for applying it to my life as I lean on the Lord to help me through the process of incorporating what I've learned into my daily practice of life and living for Christ.
Though I'm not a formal leader (pastor, small group leader, business manager etc), I believe leadership presents itself in micro and macro ways (as big as leading a church to as small as guiding a friend), so I found the contents of this book very relevant to my Christian walk. It challenged me to recognize my shadows, reflect on how I prioritize God in my decisions, and more. Scazzero uses a lot of personal experience and case studies to show the spectrum of situations that one may encounter, which I found helpful. There are little "quizzes"/assessments at the end of each chapter to apply the contents to your own life. One thing I would do differently: I would buy the physical book. I'm a visual person and I want to take more time reading this book, soaking it in and exploring my own experiences, so that'll be my next step. But as for the book in itself, it definitely started the conversation between me and my fellowship group, and I recommend it to others too, because in the end we are the leaders of our own lives who make the choices to follow Jesus.

This just wasn't what I was looking for. I imagine that people more interested in church work or ministry would appreciate this book's message more since that seems to be the book's main focus.
I recommend any one in a leadership role read this book. I plan to read other books similar to this one written by him.
I would consider the print version better than the audio version because of the interactive nature of this book, such as assessments. Also, I would consider this a deeply reflective book, where one may want to sit with a page or chapter or sentence. Print makes that more interactive.
Emotionally Healthy Church is extremely similar and just as rich, except it is for discipleship and church health, not just leadership/leader health.
I enjoyed how he talked about marriage or singleness being prioritized.
Marriage/singleness being prioritized.
