Publisher's summary

By drawing on his decades of experience working with small-business owners, Michael Gerber is adding to his mega-selling E-Myth series with The E-Myth Accountant. This installment provides a one-of-a-kind system for transforming an accountant’s practice into a business positioned for long-term growth.

This is the next installment in the series of E-Myth handbooks developed specifically for key industries. As with previous titles, The E-Myth Accountant has distilled small-business advice that specifically caters to this business segment. Although business owners know everything about their trade, very few know how to effectively run a business—the void that Michael Gerber can fill with his powerful advice. In Gerber’s signature easy-to-understand, easy-to-implement style, he addresses such specific aspects of the business as money, people, management, and growth.

Not professional quality audio. Not audible book friendly

I am an avid follower of both Michael Gerber and Darren Root because I respect both of them and I've learned a lot from them in business and accounting, respectively. I listen to audio books on a daily basis, But this is one of the worst recording paces and vocal pitch levels I've experienced. After 1.5x speed, it's a jumbled, mumbled mess. Gerber is bearable at 2x sometimes, but Darren is very hard to listen to at any speed. It's not a natural feeling slow or fast. I find myself adjusting my EQ and speed often just to get through it and understand them.

specialized

I hoped to learn some accounting methods. The introduction was so heavily into accounting businesses failures that I gave up.

Spot On Advice!

Would you listen to The E-Myth Accountant again? Why?

Yes, because, in the same way that basketball players don't go to practice once and win games, and church goers don't just go to one Sunday and then have the bible completely memorized, good principles should be constantly reviewed and re-visited, and this book is something all accountants and business owners should re-visit regularly to keep their ships on coarse.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Foreman in the jungle. :-) I can relate to workload he realistically sees in front of him, and how it can be very different from the owners distant high level view of the whole picture. I love this parable as it reminds me to remember to zoom out and see the whole picture and remember to align myself with the overall mission.

What about Michael E. Gerber and M. Darren Root ’s performance did you like?

Engaging & Stellar. :-)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Inspired.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to apply more of these principles to the business I work for.

Be an Entrepreneur 1st, CPA 2nd

Work smarter, not harder. Build your system for maximum efficiency and consistency. Delegate and outsource everything someone else can do better/cheaper. Focus on big picture, not putting out fires.

The CPA’s guide to being a CPA should be the title of this book!

The CPA’s guide to being a CPA should be the title of this book!

This should be required reading for all accountants.

M. E. Gerber improves on the concepts of the E-Myth in regards to the accounting industry by dropping practical truths and forcing all of us in practice to takes a good look in the mirror and take responsibility for the inefficiencies in your practice.

M. D. Root adds the perspective that only a CPA who's struggled to build a profitable practice can. His performance is what you would expect from an Account [insert joke here]. However, the actions you are asked to perform in the book to apply the principles more than make up for it.

Great content - Poor narration by Darren

Mike does a good job at telling a story… Darren doesn’t.. very dry. Know when to hire a professional
