The narration, by the wonderfully named Stow Lovejoy, is delivered in a business-minded, mid-toned American voice that you can listen to for hours on end without pain. It is very easy with a book where myriad facts are dealt out to get lost and confused, necessitating lots of rewinding to pick up the thread. I am happy to report that this does not happen here, in spite of the heavyweight subject matter. Mr. Navarro presents his evidence and arguments simply, and has divided the book into chapters that concentrate on one specific area at a time.
I listened to the whole book in one sitting; such was the power of both content and narrator. I would recommend this book to everyone; not just those interested in world politics and economics, but also to those who think that their country has nothing to fear from the awakening dragon...

In The Coming China Wars, best-selling author Peter Navarro previews all these potential conflicts, and reveals the urgent, radical decisions that must be made to avoid catastrophe. You'll learn how China's thirst for oil is driving nuclear proliferation in Iran, genocide in the Sudan, even Japan's remilitarization. You'll discover China's shocking role in the drug trade and how its reborn flesh trade may help trigger tomorrow's worst AIDS crisis.
Navarro also reveals how China has become the world's most ruthless imperialist; how it is promoting global environmental disaster; and, perhaps most terrifying of all, how this nuclear superpower and pirate nation may be spiraling toward internal chaos.
The threat is real. We all must come to understand it and then act! Start here and now by arming yourself with the information and insights of The Coming China Wars.

The narration on this book is very good. however, the book itself does have some significant flaws. For example, at one point in the book the author runs on about a projected aids epidemic in China due to past faulty blood handling procedures. He paints this as a great catastrophe even leading perhaps to large scale civil unrest, which he then says could involve as many as a projected 50 million people infected. The problem though is that you are talking about 50 million out of a population of over 1.2 billion. So, this hardly seems like the end of Chinese civilization. At another point in the book the author complains about Chinese chemicals ending up in drug labs across Europe. But here the problem is that the author does not clearly ever cite what he bases his conclusions on. I do like the part where the author digresses about unfair labor/trade practices, semi-slave labor conditions in China, and Communist Party/entrepenerial corruption. But, why did the author not write the book just about these topics? He easily could have filled volumes on this alone. The author attempted to cover way too much ground and way too sparsely. The problem is that his book comes across just as a bunch of rants and China bashing, instead of a serious analysis. I hope the author goes back to the drawing board, really travels to China (he had only been in surrounding countries) and gets his ducks in a row.
Such a wonderful build up on history and the complex market interactions that make up the business risk and potential of "China Wars". After wading through the hours of build up, we are left with thin if any directly applicable principles and practicum needed for market success. Will the next book finish the work?
China counterfeits! China counterfeits!
Yadda, yadda, yadda. There are MUCH bigger issues than this. Navarro mentions "little" things like wars over oil, wars over water, Chinese imperialism and so forth, but he is incensed (and obsessed) with China's trade in counterfeit goods. Did you know they make Counterfeit VIAGRA?? How DARE they! What could be worse??
Two hours about the horrors of counterfeit viagara and counterfeit Nike sneakers is more than I can take. Navarro could have done the same book in 5 to 8 minutes and made a better impression.

Best thing Peter can do is to confine his books to his own club.
The fact that he lend his voice and reputation to this hysteria.
Audible should place books like this in a special section with "health warning"
This book doesn't deliver on content! It is about 7 hours of dribble about china's environmental problems, thief of copy righted material and lack of social programs. The title should have been how Chinas is going to imploded!
It's fascinating to hear government and industry leaders talk about the emerging China market and the business opportunities it reprsents. The fact of the matter is that, as this book points out, China's business practices, it's social, environmental, and human rights record constitute a significant threat to the civilized world. The fact that China is rapidly becoming the banker of choice for the US is really startling and ominous. An excellent book and one I hope gets the attention of policy makers in government.
The title should be the "The Coming China Civil Wars." This could have been a short lecture true, but the depth of the detail shows the instability of a Communist country built on the backs of rural peasants that are obviously at a breaking point. The only worries we as American should have of China are the same as those we have of Russia which is their inability to control their nuclear capabilities/stockpiles as their society falls into ruin.
A must listen for everyone as China affects our day-to-day life. This book will make you see a lot of things in a different way. I make a bigger effort now to purchase products made in North America instead of China. The health of my family is more important than saving a few dollars. The book is well written and very well narrated. It covers aspects about China that I was not aware of but that now help me better understand some of the current news about world events. It is not just that products from China are sub-standard but by buying them, we encourage them to keep destroying our planet and our way of life.
Unlike some of the other Audible reviews, I found this book disturbing and well-wort the "read."
This book was a shocking eye-opener focused on this nuclear superpower, gone awry. Personally, I was surprised that the author didn't even address China's nuclear capabilities until the very last chapter, and then as an "elephant in the living room." I'm no political scientist; however, I think every adult in America should read this book! It was mind-numbing to learn just how bad this "pirate nation" really is in every way you can imagine, and several I couldn't. The list of the "Coming China Wars" addressed China's: "weapons of mass-production" (dirt cheap products we ALL buy); pollution levels of global impact; unfair global economic policies linking their money directly to the U.S. dollar; an "oil at ANY cost" policy leading to nuclear proliferation in Iran; a drug & prostitution trade that will likely spawn the world's next largest HIV/AIDS epidemic (surpassing that of Africa!); and so on; and so on. WOW -- I had NO idea!
Overall ... "A must-read for EVERY voting American and beyond
This is an amazing read that has me on the edge of my seat. I'm about 3/4ths of the way through, and am still waiting to hear about Viagra (mentioned two times). But, the big story is that China's war with the Western World makes Osama bin Ladin look like PeeWee Herman. Be afraid, be very afraid.
"This is my first audio book"
This is my first audible audio book. I have to say that I am very impressed.
The book itself is very well written and full of detailed and excellently presented information. I found that I could not 'put it down'.
Clearly the author is well qualified to write on the subject. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in international affairs or even remotely interested in some very major international developments that, like it or not, affect us all.
All of this would not have been nearly as accessible if it had been poorly narrated. In my opinion the narration was excellent and brought the arguments contained within the book over with clarity and (the author's)conviction. Serious stuff. Never a dull moment!
