Publisher's summary

If you've ever thought, "There must be more to life than this," The Art of Non-Conformity is for you. Based on Chris Guillebeau's popular online manifesto "A Brief Guide to World Domination," The Art of Non-Conformity defies common assumptions about life and work while arming you with the tools to live differently. You'll discover how to live on your own terms by exploring creative self-employment, radical goal-setting, contrarian travel, and embracing life as a constant adventure. Inspired and guided by Chris's own story and those of others who have pursued unconventional lives, you can devise your own plan for world domination---and make the world a better place at the same time.

Game Changing Read

It sounds cliche to say this book changed my life, but it did. It set me on an unconventional path to a much more fulfilling life. I have reread it several times now, and each read opens up a new insight. Chris Guillebeau's entire canon is practical and actionable, I have read all but one.

This book spoke to me, but it won't speak to everyone

I think creatives, wanderers, vagabonds, and anyone with A.D.D. will enjoy this book. It's helped me understand the reasons I'm not so great in corporate world, though I do have skills to provide the world. It covers lots of topics: travel, business, education, friendships, and even some financials. All areas have a non-conformist way to them, though you don't need to adopt all. Keep what makes sense and forget the rest.

Just listen and be receptive to new ideas

I was skeptical about reading this book because of the negative reviews. I am 60 and received life changing ideas. The audible version is very good. It's not so much about traveling the world as it is about accepting responsibility for our lives in a positive way.

lackluster

I am a sucker for "self-improvement" books "inspirational" books "change your life get yourself happy" books.
so I was excited about this book but I felt like very little of the information was new or came at Life With A New Perspective it was more like a book. informational yes empowering to an extent. But at the end of the day I was just bored alot of the time

Good Partner to 4 hr work week

If you liked the four hour work week, you will like this book also. The tone and narrator are much friendlier than in the four hour work week. There are less how-to examples, but more theory and positive messages. Just like 4 hour work week, it will re-set the way you think about your career and life. There is a stronger "give back" message in this book as well. I am a small business owner that spends all my time trying to get my business to run without me! I get closer every day, but not there yet. Reading books like this one reminds me of my purpose.

Golden perspectives for any entrepreneur or anyone wanting to get more independent

I often think when getting a new book on Audible, is this for me? How will it benefit me? Well this is a book that will have a key for everyone. Although, not one of my favorites, I do promise you this book made an impact on me and gave me some new ways of thinking. This is a solid book to add to your arsenal. Maybe it will give you the final push that you need that gets you to your next level in life. You can’t go wrong with it at all.

Another Self-Help Book

I liked the book, but I didn’t learn anything new. I wish there were actionable steps. There seems to be a lack in this niche.

Rare insight and inspiration for us changemakers!

This is the best book for people with a gnawing feeling that there's got to be something more to life than this. If you live by the meme "there's no way I was just born to pay bills and die" this is your book. You have found your tribe. Do the work, find your passion serving others and the universe will support it. The world needs more of us. Feeling proud of what you do is payment to the soul, and the journey or struggle is all worth it.

Very timely book

I really enjoyed this book! Chris Guillebeau is more than someone who wants to quit his job and live for fun. You can tell he’s very thoughtful and intentional about his life choices. He believes in giving back to his community and encourages others to do the same. The message of non-conformity came for me at the right time. It’s a good reminder that even though it takes work, we do not have to live our lives in the traditional prescribed manner if we don’t want to. We don’t owe our lives to a W2 job where we feel unfulfilled. Great listen!
