“These are methods that just work! Mark Jeffries has captured smart techniques that are an essential part of business success.” (Alison Masters, Group Director, Central Marketing, Microsoft)
This is a trite list of nice thoughts from someone who's never done actual research, and never seen actual success from putting it in practice. The author even admits his years of failure until achieving success at - guess what - giving talks and selling this advice. That's his only credential. Advice ranges from obvious (listen to people) to dubious (nod a lot so they know you're with them.) Pick up a book from a real authority on the subject like How to Win Friends and Influence People, or The Charisma Myth.
It doesn't add anything to your knowledge if you know the basics of human interaction. The first few chapters are promises about what will happen if you listen to the book. But 3 chapters in, you are still listening to "you will be xyz if you apply the rules we will teach you"... so teach them already!!
He's not bad. Just had a bad script.
All the promises and introductory chapters. I'd add some meat. I'd organize the book into clear chapters so people can skip around and still get something out of the book.
I don't recommend the book. Unless you're Borat and need all the help you can get.
"Fantastic insight to success!"
Yes! While we listen it becomes part of our subconscious thought! Simultaneously reviewing, and listening to what is currently being put forward by the spoken word.
When Jeffries tells us that listening in earnest to what our counterpart, or "target" is saying, to better interact with them. We all want to feel that we are being heard and that what we have to say is important enough to be remembered and respected.
. His honesty in presenting us with facts in the tone and tenor of his voice, tell us that he believes in what he is saying. Conviction, the knowledge of his craft is sound. he conveys this to the listener with the utmost certainty by simple direct and focused delivery!
Knowing when to move on,and giving the gift of time.
Loved this book!! A must" listen"! A keeper! A "re-listen"!!!
