The take-home value in this book could have been conveyed in 15 minutes. Instead, the author blathers on and on about academic constructs that never really get reduced to practical recommendations. For a much better treatment of similar ideas, try any of Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence books instead.

Start with a mixing bowl. Add 1 pound of a lame analogy (climbing a mountain). Next stir in 500 acronyms and newly invented terms, let sit for 10 minutes. Sprinkle a fistfull of uninsightful observations over the top.
In a separate bowl for sauce, put in 12 oz. of pseudo-scientific sounding observations, and stir with a gaggle of self-promotion of paid training classes. Pour suace over main dish and cook for 4 hours at 350 degrees.
The resulting product, Adversity Quotient @ Work, will produce nausea and stomach sickness. Perhaps it will induce sleep, so please do not consume while driving an automobile. Diners beware!
