Publisher's summary

In the more than 15 years since its publication, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has become an international phenomenon. Tens of millions of people in business, government, schools, and families have dramatically improved their lives and organizations by applying the principles of Stephen R. Covey's classic book.

The world, though, is a vastly changed place. The challenges we all face in our relationships, families, professional lives, and communities are of an entirely new order of magnitude.

Being effective as individuals and organizations is no longer merely an option. But in order to thrive, innovate, excel, and lead in what Covey calls the new Knowledge Worker Age, we must build on and move beyond effectiveness. The call of this new era in human history is for greatness; it's for fulfillment, passionate execution, and significant contribution.

Accessing the higher levels of human genius and motivation in today's new reality requires a sea change in thinking. The crucial challenge of our world today is this: to find our voice and inspire others to find theirs. It is what Covey calls the 8th Habit.

So many people feel frustrated, discouraged, unappreciated, and undervalued, with little or no sense of voice of unique contribution. The 8th Habit is the answer to the soul's yearning for greatness, the organization's imperative for significance and superior results, and humanity's search for its "voice". This groundbreaking audiobook of next level thinking gives a clear way to finally tap the limitless value-creation promise of the Knowledge Worker Age.

Covey's new audiobook will transform the way we think about ourselves and our purpose in life, about our organizations, and about humankind. Just as The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People helped us focus on effectiveness, The 8th Habit shows us the way to greatness.

NOTE: On the cover and in the introduction, the audio mentions that a free bonus DVD is included. It is NOT included with this audio; however, you're able to stream the content for free after signing up at the following FranklinCovey website: www.StephenCovey.com.

The 8th Habit

Phenomenally good book. Certainly the best 'self improvement' book I've read in the past few years. Covey has really done taken his work to a new level of excellence.

Covey is always inspiring

What made the experience of listening to The 8th Habit the most enjoyable?

Covey is always inspiring and in an age where many of us are struggling to just get through work each day it is too easy to just be good enough to keep your job. But Covey makes me want to use my mind to accomplish and enjoy my work day. As a motivational speaker Covey is easy to listen to and encourages thought. Not as impactful as Seven Habits, the 8th Habit is still a worthwhile listen.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

More direction to achieve the desired results.

Which scene was your favorite?

The thing mindset of the industrial age

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, but it did make me think.

Any additional comments?

There will be no more new Covey so stock up on the existing materials.

I love his the principals he presents

I try to live my life by the 7 habits. The 8th habit seemed to rehash a lot of the 7 habits, but seems a little more business driven. Overall I pretty much enjoy anything that Steven covey puts out.

Try your Local Library first.

7 Habits was a landmark. This will not carry the OMG response as 7 Habits may have done.
In some ways this could be an update of the 7 habits. And it will take you a step further. He refers to the point of choice and 'Intelligence' and birthright.
While it is good to hear Stephen Covey speak , 'hard copy' may be a better way to go. While the 'lighthouse paradigm' shift, may not seem to be present,
the act of finding your own voice and expressing that is so important even now in 2010.
Try your local Library first and read the hard copy.

Maybe too long

I got more from the 7th habits that from this one. Probably too long but I've taken something from this anyway.

Outstanding upgrade but NO critical videos available

Great next step to the 7 habits... The story is good & the steps well detailed. Unfortunately, Steven Covey states how critical watching the videos are to listening to this book but neither Audible nor Franklin-Covey was able to get me access to these critical videos so be FOREWARNED if you choose this option!!!

An inspiring book about finding your unique meaning

I had a harder time understanding the point of the 8th habit than I did of the 7 habits that precede it. I believe I have come to an understanding though, this book helps to inspire you to find your own unique meaning in life that is unlocked through building upon the 7 habits and listening deeply to your inner voice. It also encourages you to inspire others to find their unique meaning in life, there were a lot of great stories in this book and a lot of practical examples of how to apply the lessons. I would recommend it to anyone who has found the 7 habits book helpful to them.
