Publisher's summary

Learn the secret of success by achieving more with less. Find out how you can tap the hidden potential of the 80/20 principle in your life.

Richard Koch is a highly successful entrepreneur and investor. His 80/20 Principle - that 80 per cent of results flow from just 20 per cent of the causes - is the one true principle of highly effective people and organizations.

In one of the decade's most original, provocative and powerful books, The 80/20 Principle shows how you can achieve much more with much less effort, time and resources, simply by concentrating on the all-important 20 per cent.

Astonishingly, though the 80/20 Principle has greatly influenced today's world, this is the first book which shows you how to use it in a systematic and practical way.

Critic reviews

"Through multiple examples, and a punchy down-to-earth commentary, Koch offers the first really useful advice weâ¿¿ve seen in a management book for years." ( Business Age)

Rule Still Holds True

Oddly quirky at times with the 80/20 rap but still an important business read and would suggest this title for all recent college graduates. This book still maintains an important and relevant message about business that needs to be understood by all leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs.

Good message but not what I expected

This book was required reading for a terrific high performance development program. Everyone in the program found it impactful, liked it, and many rereading it. I think the message and focus is a good takeaway, but the book as a whole did not grab me. I am in the minority so I do not want to discourage others yet leaving an honest opinion. There are many examples so for some this could help application and for me it was too much.

read this 9 years too late

I got into living and working using the Pareto Principle back in 2008. So, I am already aware and am living by a number of the items this book discussed.

I will say that section on relationships is very sharp, and insightful.

good book, just not for me.

What's with the accents?

The narrator uses impersonations and funny accents when reading quotations by other people. Sometimes they're unintentionally hilarious and other times they're just offensive. It's weird.

Good book, terrible narrator

What did you like best about The 80/20 Principle? What did you like least?

Some interesting theories. A useful tool. The narrator did impressions anytime there was a quote from someone in the book. His American accent is bad, but his Asian ones were just offensive.

Wow!!!! really opened my eyes.

Get more done with less time is pretty acurate. It helped me dedicate my time where it matters most, to focus on the most important things before all else.

Good Book, Difficult Narration

Where does The 80/20 Principle rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Middle of the pack

What did you like best about this story?

Part two is really the best part of this book. Part one basically lays out what the priniciple is, which you probably already know if you are wanting to read this book. I would skip to part two.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

British accent was difficult for me as an American.

Part 2 is better

What did you like best about The 80/20 Principle? What did you like least?

Thought provoking about a paradigm shift that challenges hard work as the basis for success

some mathematical presentations made in the first part really requiers a paper and a pen to look at and fully comprehend , u cannot just listen to t on the fly

If you’ve listened to books by Richard Koch before, how does this one compare?

No

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

Was The 80/20 Principle worth the listening time?

yes specially part 2

Powerful lesson, if I could stay awake!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not the audio version. I find it impossible to concentrate on listening due to the readers accent and unenthusiastic tone. I got this book because I am a big fan of Tim Ferriss and he recommended it, but I am sure he meant the paper version!

What didn’t you like about Richard Aspel’s performance?

Too hard to follow his accent and boring voice.

Any additional comments?

I dont understand how a book about productivity can waste so much time on stories and points that add no value. Very ironic.

20% substance... 80% examples

What would have made The 80/20 Principle better?

If you are interested in wasting 80% of your time this book is for you... It is literally hours of examples of the 80/20 principle. This book offers no valuable insight on the principle whatsoever. To say that 20% of this book is actual content is probably an 80% overestimation... Of the remaining 4% of value, you will overlook 80% of the value as you will be bored to a level 80% of people won't be able to ever relate too. As for the remaining .8% of value, it is not worth even 20% of the price of the book. If you are exhausted from reading this paragraph, read this book as it is written in the same fashion.
