Publisher's summary

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun-tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other great thinkers. Some laws teach the need for prudence ("Law 1: Never Outshine the Master") and the virtue of stealth ("Law 3: Conceal Your Intentions"); many demand the total absence of mercy ("Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally"). But like it or not, all have applications in real life. Illustrated through the tactics of Queen Elizabeth I, Henry Kissinger, P. T. Barnum, and other famous figures who have wielded, or been victimized by, power, these laws will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

good quality...tactics overated..not law.

When you a man of principle and avoiding sin, the tactics become null and void. 48 laws of power is for the forgotten child who still doesn't understand gods law. Great knowledge to have though.

insightful

Great book! A lot of "intellectuals" cry and moan about many of the laws being contradictory, but they're not when you apply them in the right context and situations. These are the same people that fail a kindergarten logic test and watch fake news thinking it's absolute reality.

"Muh Russia," "muh lagacy"

This is a worthwhile investment in time and money, it's like "the art of war" for the West.

delicious & evil

I've listened to this a couple of times. it's so fun to hear all the evil tactics of power. I definitely recognized many of these & loved the author's format & storytelling, there's a lot of fascinating history showcased. The narrator was just perfect.

Food for thought

Certainly a Machiavellian view on how to interact with others, great perspective for this day and age.
