The book explores a lot of the history of innovation, which was a bit tiring, particularly when the author listed items. Nevertheless, the last 40min were much more practical and engaging!
we understand best through examples. this author gives about 100 examples for each lense. its almost impossible to not understand each lense. but its deeper than just the four lenses. the examples are new and modern with older innovation examples as well . i love this book because while listening i too created 7 innovative ideas. i had to stop the audio seven times. but i listwned on 2x speed because its like when youre hungry and you love whats in front of you . you want to devour it NOW. BUT when youre done you wish you can get hungry again so eat all over again. with this book i can "devour" it again and again!
"Just a collection of examples"
4 lenses ideas is about 10 minutes of the book.
The rest of it is a dull set of example successful companies. The same company is often sited for each lense.
"A Great Prompt and Springboard"
I would recommend the book as a thought-provoking delve into thinking and processes that we touch and use everyday to different extents. The book is recommended for those who are feeling that they've lost their "innovative edge" too. Realising and or remembering the cross-thinking skills will reinvigorate you and broaden your shrinking horizons.
The case-study examples by their breadth are very helpful indeed. If you find inspiration from parallels and cross-overs, you'll find some here for sure.
