Critic reviews

"It's about time this book was written. It is a long-overdue manifesto for the mobile lifestyle, and Tim Ferriss is the ideal ambassador. This will be huge." (Jack Canfield)

Over-hyped

I really enjoyed the concepts of this book.

It’s definitely geared towards people still stuck in the rat race of the 9-5. Some parts were hard to follow along with and many parts were extremely repetitive.

Overall good message just wish it was delivered a little better.

Great info, but patronizing voice

I loved most of this book. There is some fantastic information portrayed very well with examples and anecdotes, from the author's life experiences and elsewhere. What bothered me about this book was when the author made assumptions about the audience and spoke in a patronizing, condescending voice. I found myself, like a super mature person, yelling at my speakers and hitting "+30 seconds" on Audible until he got back to being informative instead of... well, I'd slap him across the face if he spoke to me like that in person, even if he really was talking to his past self as the audience of this book. We're not all in the boat you're talking to us like we're in, shut up and move on already. Outside of that complaint, I love that he wrote this information down for us to use. Enough of the information portrayed resonated with me that it was definitely worth my while, and it's helping me correct some areas of my life that needed work. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to change their life for the better, from someone who needs a total reboot to someone looking to tweek a few areas for greater success.

Freedom is a book away!

Simply put, this is the book you need when you’re ready to take control of your life and take a step away from your overworked, frustrating, and suboptimal career that eats into your personal life. I found it useful for people who want to stay in their career as much as those who want to take on entrepreneurship. Enjoy it, listen to it a second time (if needed), and then take the first step!

Ok. audiobook prefer the actual book

Book was just ok, not the best.
Jumps around from topic to topic, gives too much lists. Mentions a lot of websites which you need to pause and take a note of. Would recommend the actual book instead.

UNBELIEVABLY THOUGHT-PROVOKING TITLE

I am not even halfway through this title and I immediately go to order a hard copy... I know that this is a book I will go through multiple times. Tim is a world-class story teller, and his ideas/recommendations are first class. Excited to go back through it a second time.

The Classic that stands Opposed to it's Genre

The 4 Hour Work Week (4HWW) is a classic (is it old enough?) in the self help and business book world. While some of the specifics can be a bit dated the ideas and basics are as true today as they were when first written. I'm not a fan of most of this world of books. But the 4HWW stands out to me as different.

It isn't about hustle.
It isn't about "mindset".
It isn't a sales letter for coaching, courses and etc

In many ways it is the opposite of most works in the genre. It's telling you to do less. And Tim is living that by not upselling every fan into more and more expensive offerings. Even his other books seem more about his own personal knowledge journey than cashing in on his fame.

Ray Porter as the narrator brings the words to life. I'm a true fan of him and this is the book that first introduced me to his narration. I wish far more works were narrated by him.

This is a book worth owning and coming back to every few years. One of the few books let alone any media that I have read/watched/listened to multiple times. Each time I equally remember it while being surprised by how it seems to hit me like it is the first time.

It isn't a perfect book or even a perfect idea. I am sure even those who agree with most of his thesis will have points they disagree with Tim on. I know I do. I'd say it is a book designed to lead you to your own version of what he presents. He isn't telling you his way is best. He is telling you the way you have been taught by society isn't the best. Showing you how he and many others found their own paths. Paths united by some basic ideas but each unique.
