Publisher's summary

What if the most effective investment portfolio was also the easiest to manage and the least expensive? As the authors of this clear, practical, and enlightening audiobook - part financial guide, part expos - prove, there are just three simple rules you need to follow and only a few, very inexpensive investment products that are necessary for an ideal portfolio. The authors deftly bust investing’s myths - what they call investing's Seven Deadly Temptations - and dispense with all that complicated, confusing, and self-serving advice of the Wall Street wolves. By embracing commonsense solutions and rejecting investments that seem enticing but are overpriced, needlessly complex and risky, you'll put not only yourself in a stronger position, but the entire economy as well.

Great introduction to investing!

Would you listen to The 3 Simple Rules of Investing again? Why?

I would ABSOLUTELY listen to The 3 Simple Rules of Investing again. I have always been "good at math" and have worked as a statistician for over a decade. Unfortunately, I was very uninformed when it came to the financial/investing world and the math behind "beating the stock market". This book served as a great introduction for me. It taught me some of the basics and also opened my eyes regarding what really matters when I look at financial information like my retirement accounts. I was blindly letting my retirement plan managers decide many things for me based on my age and years until retirement. This book has empowered me to take the control of my retirement accounts and no longer rely on the "experts" (who are most likely overcharging me for their services). I have always valued knowledge and self-sufficiency, and I believe this book was worth every penny.

What did you like best about this story?

I love that the authors provided a simplified strategy for investing. It's easy to follow and made perfect sense. I am already in the process of implementing it in my own life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had no intention of listening to the entire book in one sitting. I mostly listened to it during commutes to/from the gym and the office.
