A Life-Long Learner!
Are you missing something from your personal development plan? Do you have a plan? This audiobook is great for anyone who is on their journey of growth and introspection. Maxwell provides great insight about his own personal journey and provides chapter-in-review questions to help the listener dig deep within. I really enjoy listening to John C. Maxwell's voice, which is part of the reason that I purchased the audiobook, rather than than paperback or Kindle version. I recommend this book to everyone who is in search of more challenging ways to become more self-aware, and "add value to their lives and the lives of others," as Maxwell would say.
Invaluable, necessary, Insightful
Mr. John Maxwell has an incredible gift and is excellent at sharing his knowledge and insight in leadership and growth. This book is a great way to evaluate yourself and find the right way to grow in your everyday life.
I have listened to many of Mr. Maxwell's books and this one is right up at the top of the list. In some ways I wish I had listened to it before some of the others but it falls right in line with his teachings.
I will apply many of the laws into my life, some have already been instilled in me and I will continue to seek every growth opportunity I can.
Again. Another incredible teaching book by Mr. John Maxwell.
I realized the difference between setting goals and a personal growth plan
By focusing on personal growth my goals will be surpassed
I thought he offered a lot of highly useful information. However, when he denigrated the ambitions of his musical director, without offering any useful guidance on how the guy could find something at least close to what he wanted, I discovered I stopped caring about how wonderful this guy was (which he was careful to let us know, oh, fairly often). I guess support people aren't supposed to have ambitions beyond their station. I just wonder what why Maxwell would have told his wife if say, she'd wanted to become a stockbroker.
I tried to continue after that, but after he started explaining how great he was, and how he learned so much from other leaders (all of whom were male), then I felt he was no longer talking to me.
I'm sure there was lots of good information. But I was so turned off by how he treated his musical director that I really couldn't listen to him any more.
His performance was excellent. He has a great voice, and knows how to use it to deliver the material.
No. But it's nonfiction anyway.
Inspiring, practical and well-organized!
This was my first book along the lines of growth, so I can't offer a comparison.
So much of the information was valuable, it's hard to choose just one. However, I'm definitely planning to create a "growth plan" which is one of the suggestions from the book. I'm also planning to re-read with notebook in hand to take notes.
The book is pretty long, so I never planned to listen in one sitting, however I travel a lot for work and I was able to knock a couple hours non stop on several occasions, because it was so interesting. I didn't even miss the radio with this audio book!
Great audio! I'm looking forwarding to listening again, while taking notes as opposed to listening while driving. I really enjoyed it and feel that it provided a lot of information for my growth and development.
Im the excuse people use to do what they previously thought impossible.
As a trainer and motivational speaker I am always looking for a book to explain the virtues of personal growth, this book does that and more. John clearly gives the why behind begging the journey of growth!
The book is really long and it could be condensed, it also has to many "qoutes" that takes away originality. yet the content is really good. I wish this could come with a supplemental PDF download with summary of main rules (laws).
He used examples in relations to his personal life.
it's too dry to listen to the entire book in one sitting becuase it's not a story that it will build up to a climax and have a happy ending....
I'm a work in progress. Growing stronger and wiser by the day.
Essential Life-Changing Motivating
John gives the essential tools to implementing the principles necessary for personal growth and development
The passion he relays
Do It Anyway
I love his writings
I don't normally listen to "self help" books so I as far as those types of books go I would put it in the top 10.
About the chicken's always drowning when the floods came and the wife advising the husband to switch to raising ducks.
none really stand out that I can recall.
Probably the law of intentionality - you have to focus with intent if you want to grow.
Would like to listen to it again. It is about how you have to take control of your life with purpose and intent and not just let time go by. Not only do we need to take a more active role in our personal development and growth but we are here to help others achieve their best as well.
Developing the person who I can make the greatest impact on - Me.
Yes, I have recommended this book to several friends. John Maxwell at his best here. He explores the roadblocks to growth and why many people never overcome them. Each Law is concluded with an excercize to ensure that you recieve specific instruction through your own guided discovery of what steps need to be taken to ensure that you continue to grow.
John himself, and the stories that he uses from his personal life are always fun and interesting to hear him tell.
John has a distinct style to any of his audio books, they have the feel of sitting across the table from his as they are read. Very easy to listen to, not diluted with complicated verbiage or technical terms. GREAT book.
