Love your work, work for what you love, and change the world—all at the same time.
What matters most to you? Should you focus on earning a living, pursuing your passions, or devoting yourself to the causes that inspire you? The surprising truth is that you don’t have to choose—and that you’ll find more success if you don’t.
That’s the breakthrough message of the TOMS One for One movement. You don’t have to be rich to give back, and you don’t have to retire to spend every day doing what you love. You can find profit, passion, and meaning all at once—right now.
In Start Something That Matters, Blake Mycoskie tells the story of TOMS, one of the fastest-growing shoe companies in the world, and combines it with lessons learned from other innovative organizations such as Method Products, charity: water, FEED Projects, and TerraCycle. Blake presents the six simple keys for creating or transforming your own life and business, from discovering your core story to being resourceful without resources; from overcoming fear and doubt to incorporating giving into every aspect of your life. No matter what kind of change you’re considering, Start Something That Matters gives you the stories, ideas, and practical tips that can help you get started.

Reminded me to be true to myself.
I LOVE this audio book. This is the most inspiring story I have heard in a long time and has spurred some amazing changes in my business. Blake is an amazing dude and I love his narration as well.
Can not recommend this audio. I respect that he was able to make a profit while helping kids who really need shoes, and found his story very compelling. Unfortunately, he waters down his message by going into how to succeed in business. Do I really need to read how to unclutter my workspace from this book? What bothered me the most was that he was just giving his opinions on business practices, but presented them as if they were best practices just because that???s what he did. While there was some good content like his story and the section on freebies, overall it felt drawn out and preachy in parts.
Are businesses made just to make a few people millionaires? Can I start a business that not only sells products and makes profit, but also contributes to social causes? SSTM gave me answers to these questions. I was annoyed of the idea of starting a business in advertising, home appliances, mobile apps, etc. that will only cause someone or some people to get richer, while thousands or millions somewhere else barely survive. SSTM showed me how profits can be shared with social and humanitarian causes, how I can actullay feel good about the business I am running - knowing that my success translates into helping someone in need, how new businesses actually get more support when they have charitable goals.
If you are looking for that extra push toward starting your own business or charity, this is it. Blake combines his own experience as well as the experiences of people he got in touch over the years and tells the story of YOU. You as someone who is capable to succeed regardless of obstacles. He inspires readers and gives them "YES you CAN" attitude, highlighting importance of the story behind whatever you might be doing.
Overall I enjoyed this book very much and I'm highly recommending it to the others who are looking to start they own venture while doing a greater good.
I enjoyed the story and was inspired to start a master mind group and start something that matters.
