Love your work, work for what you love, and change the world—all at the same time.
What matters most to you? Should you focus on earning a living, pursuing your passions, or devoting yourself to the causes that inspire you? The surprising truth is that you don’t have to choose—and that you’ll find more success if you don’t.
That’s the breakthrough message of the TOMS One for One movement. You don’t have to be rich to give back, and you don’t have to retire to spend every day doing what you love. You can find profit, passion, and meaning all at once—right now.
In Start Something That Matters, Blake Mycoskie tells the story of TOMS, one of the fastest-growing shoe companies in the world, and combines it with lessons learned from other innovative organizations such as Method Products, charity: water, FEED Projects, and TerraCycle. Blake presents the six simple keys for creating or transforming your own life and business, from discovering your core story to being resourceful without resources; from overcoming fear and doubt to incorporating giving into every aspect of your life. No matter what kind of change you’re considering, Start Something That Matters gives you the stories, ideas, and practical tips that can help you get started.

Thank you Blake for sharing & for this amazing book! I found myself in tears a lot of the time through the book as I heard of how you and others had changed and impacted people's lives. I felt inspired and am looking forward to starting something that matters.
I am preparing to launch a company and planned to donate a percent of profits to charity from the first day. Now, this book has inspired me to do more than just donate money. My product is not a direct one for one type of product, but I'm sure I can figure out an amazing way to touch lives.
The great things in life are simple. As explained in this book-we tend to overly complicate ourselves and missing out on the blissful moment. The simple act of giving goes a long way for many and the returns are more then rewarding-they are true happiness! It has answered all my questions-now I need to act. Much Love, OH

Starting a company with the goal to give back rather than for profit and give back as an after thought was a major point I thank you for Congratulations to everyone who is inspired by this
It could do with being about twice as long, with some depth to the stories and a bit more of a narrative thread. It all felt pretty disjointed to me and barely scratched the surface of what I thought it would. I could also have done without the numerous lists of resources. This might work in hardcopy but not in an audiobook.
It just sort of petered out. Nothing very memorable about it.
Since the narrator and the author are the same person, I thought it would be quite an animated, inspiring and passionate reading. unfortunately it was a little flat.
There was some interesting and thought provoking points but they were few and far between sadly.
I so dearly wanted to like this but I just couldn't. At just under 5 hours long, this book is incredibly light weight. It doesn't go into much depth about anything in particular (except when a couple of times it seems to go off on extended tangents about loosely related topics). Sorry Blake, I have massive respect for what you do, and I love the TOMS story, this just isn't a great book.
