Excellent book on how to ask for what you want in a professional setting. The first few chapters help to set the stage on why women struggle to ask for what they want or deserve. The rest of the chapters focus on techniques and examples. I reread these chapters as I was preparing for job interviews and critical business negotiations.
I highly recommend this book to any female professional looking for guidance on this subject.
This is a great book for women who are starting out in male dominated fields and looking to become executives. It details a lot of failures and lessons learned, as well as giving different options of what did and did not work in various scenarios. Unlike other similar titles, every executive has their own POV based in their industry and personal experience, sometimes contradicting each other. The stories are grouped in topics, so you can jump from one area to the other without losing pace. The narrator is pleasant to listen to and speaks clearly at an even pace.
This is one of the few books that gives concrete examples and solutions relevant to both the novice and intermediate reader. It's a keeper!
Really enjoyed this book! Lots of practical tips and I enjoyed the negotiation model/steps outlined by the author. The real world examples served as excellent illustrations. My only critique is that I would have liked to hear more first hand examples/stories from areas outside of for-profit business--for example, women leaders in the government or non-profit. This would have been more relevant for someone like me who works in higher education. Even so, the examples transcend industries and I could find ways to apply them to my own career trajectory. Excellent book, I will recommend to others!
