The basic concept of this book is that if you want to be profitable you should:
1. Have no life- much of the book is dedicated to explaining that you should be at the office all the time, and love your work more than your family
2. Treat your workers badly- your workers are not to be trusted, you should micromanage everything, pay the lowest wage you can get away with.
3, Be a jerk and create fear in your business
4. Pay your suppliers as late as possible.
It was hard to get through this book because of the ideas the author has about how a successful company should be run. Definitely not your "servant leader" type of book.
The reason I gave it 2 stars is that he drives home the idea that without profits your company will not survive and so that should be your priority at all times. This is why we're in business, so everything else you might want to achieve with your business has to come second.
Long story short--if you believe there are more important things in life than work, don't bother. If you value things besides $$, this book isn't for you. It wasn't for me.
Thanks to George & Samantha for this one. This book has changed my entire outlook on my small business and has made it much more profitable. There are no real secrets in this book, it just takes everything you probably already know and puts it into perspective. Business is business and you have to treat it that way. Employees are employees and you have to treat them that way. You have to make the smart decisions to make your company profitable. Some advice from me. Don't hire friends or family if you would not feel comfortable firing them if they were not doing their job well.
Direct and to the point on the best ways to get your business making higher profits
Great book for any business owner and/or entrepreneur that wants to kick start their struggling business. Well worth the investment.
This is a "no nonsense" book. I would recommend this book to any business owner looking to make changes, especially one that has family involved in the business. Author does a great job with this.
