"Useful but not worth paying for>>"
Okay I'm not exactly new to all of this so I can't say I got much out of it unfortunately.. I was hoping for a few snippets.
There is a lot of info on here however it is all very simple and can be found for free at most places on the internet. Just look in google for SEO, PPC etc and it's all there.
This isn't really a DIY guide either, imo. It tells you things you can do but not how to actually do anything. If you were to follow the book to the letter then you'd likely do a lot of things but nothing overly well.
A lot of information though so a good starting point.
"Probably ok for absolute beginners?"
I didn't get anything from this book unfortunately. I already do a lot of blogging and social media activity so was looking to further my knowledge. I think perhaps this book would be ok for beginners looking to get started with Social Media etc?
One thing I found very annoying was that fact that the author continually plugged their new Social Media website. When a new paragraph or section started I knew it was leading to a plug, and it was.
The book would have been better if it lasted around 3-4 hours. Investing several hours in something basic for me was disappointing. I don't like to leave a book unfinished.
"Very good guide"
Well presented, good pace and nice voice by narrated. The book covers many digital marketing aspects, key points and interesting comments, observations that everyone who works in the field should know. Also a good review in SEO, SEM, social media, blog and online marketing in general. I work in digital marketing for over 5 years and I recommend this book.
"Excellent step by step guide"
Firstly it's nice to have a British book on the subject.
Whether you are new to the subject or a more experienced website owner. You will find lots to keep you busy improving your website. There were so many ideas I had to take this book in chunks with a pen and paper by my side.
If you have a website and want to do business online or attract customers or clients this is the book for you, and it's up to date.
If you know nothing about this subject Paula Wynne will hold your hand and take you step-by-step through improving your site. Nice.
"Great content, annoying tone."
If you are thinking about starting a website this book is great. In fact it has so many useful tips, website addresses and ideas for getting your website noticed and higher up on search engine results that after listening to it twice I also downloaded the ebook.
It came seem a little overwhelming, as there is so much in it and so much to do, but once you realise that it's about picking and choosing the ideas and advice that work for you, I have found this book invaluable. It is also written from a UK perspective, which makes it slightly more useful than some other titles in this genre if you are from the UK.
The reason I have not given it 5 stars relates to the 'tone' of writing and the way it is read. At times I found the patronising "gather round children and I'll tell you a story" style and the 'play school' voice adopted by the reader very irritating. It's clear that this is an attempt to make the content more accessible but in fact just becomes increasingly annoying. Once you get used to it, you realise that this book contains so much useful information and so many invaluable links and tips that you have to keep using the 'bookmark' function repeatedly!
