I think the information is great and there are a ton of really great action items throughout the book.
The narrator sounded so monotone and boring to listen to that it made it hard to really listen to and gain anything out of. I've listened to other marketing and SEO books and the narrator actually sounded like marketing was exciting. In this case I kept thinking that there is no way this actually a real person reading this book. Book was great, audio really not so much.
This is a very hard book to listen to. I gave up after 45 minutes.
The subject matter should not be difficult to comprehend, but this book is, The author uses very long sentences and strings together a lot of unnecessary words. I've read scores of audio books -- this is the most difficult book to read I've ever encountered. This is also the first book review I've ever written.
It's possible that a hard copy of the book would be easier to follow, but I doubt it.
The organization of the content within the book is terrible- for instance, the author brings up KPI's multiple times, then finally when you are half-way through the book he finally explains what a KPI is. For the record, I know what a KPI is so this was fine for me, but what about those who don't? If you intended to explain what a KPI is, why wouldn't you do it the first time you bring it up. There are several issues like this throughout the book.
The reading of the infographics are absolutely painful.
This is an absolute beginners guide, in the form of a tedious text book. If you have any knowledge of digital marketing at all you should get something more advanced as you won't learn anything here.
The author references other areas of the book that I bet if you pulled every sentence with a reference out and put them into a separate document it would likely be a book in and of itself. If you can't point out everything you're trying to say when you're saying it then you probably need to rethink how your writing it.
Finally, it seems like the author formatted his book in the same fashion you might optimize a blog post. It had multiple links going to other places throughout the book, all the right content and tons of valuable information- it just wasn't executed well as a book.
Something more specific to marketing digital content.
It was clear that he was not understanding what he was reading, often times on a basic level. For instance the inflection of the word "however" at the end of a sentence which he pronounced as if it were the beginning of a sentence. There were several instances like this throughout the audiobook that, mixed with the poorly organized content, made for a really painful listen.
The information is all there for beginners. If you can pay attention through some disorganization, a novice could actually learn something- but that's about it.
Don't waste your money on this audiobook. I'm sure you can find the same content in another that is organized better.
It's hard to get it all the first time so I will listen again. this is the 3rd of 4th book I have read on SEO and content marketing. It was partially a review for me but I learned a lot of new things as well. I highly Recommend for those of us who want to build our knowledge of inbound marketing.
This didn't work as an audiobook for me. There's a lot of good information that I want to refer back to, but now can't. This is a dense book, and the information is great, but it's not really useful unless you're able to take notes while you're listening.
More action items, there simply wasn't enough info on what to do after reading the book. I get why I should do it, I'm left wondering how.

Disappointed. I am very interested in learning how to integrate my social marketing and website. I just didn't get the info I wanted form this book.
Maybe it's just the recording, but I couldn't finish the audio book. It's like listening to an insurance seminar in mono-tone. Painful!
"Not for beginners (that's a good thing)!"
I was worried that this book would be too focussed on beginners with lengthy introductions of the basics, but not a bit of it. I'd say this is aimed at mid level Digital account managers, low level Digital producers/strategists and clued up business owners.
You need to know what the technologies are, as this book is focussed on getting the most from various digital media channels.
It has the standard problems with audio books, some tabular data is difficult to comprehend when spoken rather than having it in front of you, but over all the points are still understandable.
It splits up content strategy well in places, especially focussing on small, medium and enterprise sized businesses. This really should be done more often in these kind of books.
I can't see anyone not learning at least something from thi, no matter your standard.
Over all it's certainly not a waste of your time or money to give this book a shot!

This was my 2nd audio book I've downloaded & was really expected to blown away as I have been following Lee Odden's blog for some time. The book itself is informative & full of common sense tips, however the sentence structure was long which made some points difficult to digest, it is probably not a novices book. Upon a 2nd listen I could change my mind & because of that I can only give this book 3 stars but I am willing to update my review should it deserve a higher rating.
