An inside look at what it really takes to become a better trader.
A proprietary trading firm consists of a group of professionals who trade the capital of the firm. Their income and livelihood is generated solely from their ability to take profits consistently out of the markets. The world of prop trading is mentally and emotionally challenging, but offers substantial rewards to the select few who can master this craft called trading.
In One Good Trade: Inside the Highly Competitive World of Proprietary Trading, author Mike Bellafiore shares the principles and techniques that have enabled him to navigate the most challenging of markets over the past twelve years. He explains how he has imparted those techniques to an elite desk of traders at the proprietary trading firm he co-founded. In doing so, he lifts the veil on the inner workings of his firm, shedding light on the challenges of prop trading and insight on why traders succeed or fail.
An important contribution to trading literature, the book will help all traders by:
Becoming a better trader takes discipline, skill development, and statistically profitable trading strategies, and this book will show you how to develop all three.

I really liked how the author would convey learning topics with real-life examples in the form of stories. He used actual people's hard learned lessons to teach the reader some things to do and some things not to do. The stories had depth and meaning and were enjoyable to listen to.
I liked how real the entire book felt. I feel like I now know Bella and Steve like they were my personal mentors. I feel like I could walk up to any person mentioned in the book and strike up a conversation like we were best buds from college. Most books on the stock market are very dry and hard to stay interested in but not "One Good Trade"! Out of the dozens of Trading books I have read/listened to this one is by far my favorite.
Although it is hard to talk about an actual scene in this book I would have to say I liked how Bella would describe the different traders and their trading style. It was helpful for me to hear how different people had different styles of trading and what worked best for them.
One Good Trade!
Great book, really one of the best books about trading out there. It has just enough teaching as it does story telling to keep me interested and coming back for more. I have listened to this book prolly 6-7 times in its entirety. It is that good.
Great book for the developing trader, let this be the first book you read on trading if you want to be serious about. Teaches psychology, skills and history.
I'd recommend it to someone considering a career in trading, but no one else.
The narration was alright, but the author should have hired an editor to improve on his language skills in many places. It doesn't surprise me though, that he did not. See the additional comments.
I'm a forex trader who's put in his three losing years and am now finally enjoying success. This book is exactly what I need right now, and I plan to play it over and over again while waiting for my setups to play out. Lots of good tips, but does this guy have any idea how full of himself he is? I don't care how much money he's made or how experienced or successful he is. Nobody wants to hear this many hours of a guy telling us how great he is. And then he criticizes many of his hires that don't make it because of their arrogance and ego? Physician, heal thyself!
Great for any aspiring trader. Bella's book details many challenges that so many traders experience in the financial markets. Very inspiring to always be learning.
Lover of the written word. Or the recorded written word. Favorites are nonfiction, history and investing/trading.
I'd rank this high among the list of books related to trading that I have read.
The author is a good story teller and seems to have no shortage of characters in his digital jungle. This book doesn't teach outright trading strategies, at least not in the traditional sense, however, I do recommend it. I easily put it in the top 10 of trading books that I've ever read/listened too. That said I am not someone who purchases trading books wanting the authors methodologies I really care more about the attitude and thought processes. Highly recommended!!
Although I'm not an intra-day trader, I find the book filled with great trading advice. One thing that I learned to be a successful trader is - you gotta work hard! This really hit the nail on the head, in contrast to those trading system/course that promises you great profits for spending just 15 mins trading a day.
Very insightful of what a trader should do and how to become one
All of them
When the author talked about reinvented himself to fit in different type of trading environment
Scalpers and intraday traders will like this book.
I would because he's been successful, but only if it was an investing approach as opposed to trading.
It was a good performance.
This book goes to the core of the trader. it leaves no room for high emotions or self indulging decisions. If you really want to become a good trader then you're going to have to expect your trading rules and mother market. Take your emotions and put them on the top shelf while you're trading or you can keep them with you and go broke. just that simple!
I've you're a serious trader this book is a must. Part of my top 5 ever.
The way of thinking the author is teachching.
great job. Hope you will also make "The playbook" from Bellafiore on audio format too.
"Time to buy the book rather than jug down notes!"
Lots of good tips for traders + a lot of marketing efforts for his firm but nevertheless lots of great lessons to help day traders.
"Very good !!!"
Useful and practical insight in the world of prop trading! A nice book to hear and understand better the whole industry.
