On the Edge is an engaging leadership manual that provides concrete insights garnered from various extreme environments ranging from Mt Everest to the South Pole. By reflecting on the lessons learned from her various expeditions, author Alison Levine makes the case that the leadership principles that apply in extreme adventure sport also apply in today's extreme business environments. Both settings require you to be able to make crucial decisions on the spot when the conditions around you are far from perfect. Your survival - and the survival of your team - depend on it. On the Edge provides a framework to help people scale whatever big peaks they aspire to climb - be they literal or figurative - by offering practical, humorous, and often unorthodox advice about how to grow as a leader.

The fact that the author is narrating the content adds substance to the story. the content of the audiobook is impacting and well supported. Alison does a great job connecting two worlds under one banner, leadership.
I truly loved the climbing aspects of the book. I was amazed at all the author's efforts and dedication to this incredible sport. Truly inspiring and admirable!!
Her ability to physically do all that was expected of her as a world class climber was incredible.
I was given this book by my boss when I was recently promoted and opted to buy the audio version to give me something to focus on during my long commute. The facts of the story are very compelling but the overall tone of the writing was a bit less than inspiring. Perhaps if I was a new supervisor or new to leadership, I would have gained a bit more from her teaching moments. It almost seemed like the leadership points were a side-note rather than the point of the book. I enjoyed it but it was not as provocative or defining for me as the climbing experiences she detailed. She is an impressive world-class climber and I wouldn't feel worthy to carry her climbing boots, but as an inspiring communicator of leadership principles, she may have stepped outside of her element...
This book combined the most interesting topics together (climbing and leadership) very well. Over the years, I found leadership books are boring and put me to sleep. Not this book!! It is captivating, funny, and to the point. Alison shared her most extraordinary experiences, yet very humbled. Then she combined it with leadership and teamwork. What a great idea!! Thank you for writing this awesome little book.
I am not one for picking up a book and listening to someone tell me how to be a leader. This book is far from that. The reason I appreciate it so much is because she actually gives examples from her life experiences and applies it to her professional career. I enjoyed this book very much!
This book is immensely entertaining, engrossing and clocked full of great information and stories.
The author is a great story teller, she puts you right there with her during her adventures and experiences.
