Publisher's summary

For everyone who dreads going to work on Monday mornings, inspiring advice on how to find fulfilling work in an uncertain age. Do you hate Mondays? If so, what's keeping you at your current job? If you said a steady paycheck and the promise of a secure retirement, then you're in for a big disappointment. In today's volatile economy, there is nothing safe about punching the clock for a job you hate.

As beloved talk-show host and best-selling author Dan Miller reveals, the only way to find true security is by following your calling and then finding or creating work that matches that calling and passion. No More Mondays' practical, inspirational advice speaks to people looking for guidance on how to launch a new career or business, those who want to stay in their current jobs and give the old 9-to-5 model a 21st-century makeover, and managers desperate to understand the way people want to work today.

For all of them, Dan Miller's message is loud and clear: If you're one of those people who dread going to work on Mondays, do something about it!

Thoughts on this book

There’s some really great concepts in this book but there are also a few very corny platitudes which diminish from the message. I also would drop the terrible music between the chapters it reminds me of 1970. It just has an old feel.

Motivating Read

I really enjoyed this book; I found it to be very motivating even though I am not looking for a new job or career. Looking at my job as a part of my calling and not just a grind that I do to make ends meet has become really important to me.

Realizing that the only job security you have is your ability to find your next one is very important in the world we now live in. It is now very rare for anyone to have the same job or even vocation for 20 years or more much less retiring from a company with a meaningful pension, so it is up to us to fund our own retirement and provide financial security for our families. Working at something you love will make that a lot easier and increase your chance of success and happiness. This book may give you some ideas of how to accomplish that goal.

Not a great performance

I've followed Dan in other areas of his business and think he has a great point of view and certainly shared good information in this book. Perhaps I just listened wrong, but it often feels like these types of books encourage us to make our own online type empires. This book was ok, but the recording was just terrible. The music was SUPER loud (and completely unnecessary anyway), weird edits, and background noise. I would recommend reading over listening if you want to get more out of it.

Idea expansion from Dan Miller

If you're looking for a how to quit your job and get rich, this isn't the book for you. This is a book about passions. It does provide more concrete ideas than what you may find in other works from the author, but it's not going to tell you to do A, B and C to make all your dreams come true. Miller also gives some fantastic strategic insights on new ways to approach problems. I listened to this over a few LONG car rides and really enjoyed it.

inspirational with a lot of good ideas

I found it inspirational, but some areas drug out a bit too much. the performance was not clean enough. the author fumbled over words and corrected himself more than I would have expected. I agree with other reviewers that complained about the loud music between chapters. it was very jarring. overall, a worthwhile read and lots of food for thought.
