Money was one of man's greatest inventions. But we have become its slaves.
Money: the Unauthorised Biography unfolds a panoramic secret history and explains the truth about money: what it is, where it comes from, and how it works. Martin believes that the conventional wisdom that today's financial universe evolved from barter, is wrong. Not just wrong, but dangerous.
Money will radically rearrange your understanding of the world and shows how money can once again become the most powerful force for freedom we have ever known.

"Informative and sometimes counter-intuitive"
Interesting and informative book about origins of money and how different the reality is from that promoted by conventional economics. Draws on history, ethnography, economics and sociology (and probably other disciplines) to introduce and explore key concepts around money, banking, debt and more, highlighting the importance of developing accepted means of exchanging assets and debts. Each chapter tackles a different aspect of analysis in its specific historical and social context.
Engaging and wide-ranging.
