Love Works is a framework for successful leadership. It outlines a counterintuitive but proven path to success through a passionate and motivated workforce. The mainstay of this philosophy is leading with love, which relies on seven time-proven - but unfortunately not-so-often tested - principles that break down the natural walls within corporate cultures, empower managers and employees, disarm difficulties, and cultivate an atmosphere that builds long-term success. The key to leading with love is turning love from an emotion into an action. This shift fosters strong relationships, which in turn builds enthusiastic employees and leads to enthusiastic customers.
Using love at work also leverages the undeniable truth that love builds healthy relationships at home, so why not use the same behavior to build healthy relationships at work? The book will explore the seven principles of love, which are patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, and dedicated.
Joel Manby is proof that leading with love works. He has refined and relied upon this leadership philosophy for more than a quarter-century - first as a highly successful corporate executive at Saturn, then as Saab North America’s CEO, and most recently as president and CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment (HFE). HFE was also featured in the CBS hit show Undercover Boss. Overwhelmed by the response of the 18 million viewers who loved seeing love in action, Manby decided to share these principles.

I loved the authenticity of the author, Joel Manby.
The whole message: His honesty about how his job at SAAB was ruining his marriage and family and how he had to find another way. He seems very likable, and admitted he didn't know it all, and that he learned from the Herschend family that "love works" in leadership. Who wouldn't want to work for a company like that?
Authenticity in his voice.
I would have, but didn't have the time. I listened during my work commute.
I would read other books by Joel Manby.
I have multiple times and I have learned something new each time.
That love does work in management.
No matter what your job is, this is a MUST READ.
There are a couple of useful bits in this book. Unfortunately it's mostly a love letter to Jesus, the Bible, and his for me boss. If you are looking for a book with helpful tips about being a good leader there isn't much here.
It is always refreshing to hear how applying biblical principles will work in any organization when applying with a true heart and integrity instead of trying to make things happen for selfish purposes. Truly looking forward to applying the same principles in this next organization that I'm participating with. Thank you Joel for sharing your heart through real life struggles and joys with the hope of getting others to be able to apply the same principles for the temporal/eternal benefit of those who we work with as well as our own. Thank you again. Dave
Not the usual (leadership book)
The story about the young man Eric resonated with me the most.
All of the above. He is so honest and humble in his approach to leadership.
I listened to Joel open up about his personal as well as professional life while I walked. I know he would not want the attention on him, so I will offer it to his Creator and mentors. Nice job!
Yes. This is a must read/listen to for all levels of employees. It has amazing simple day to day basics that you may apply to all aspects of your life, not just in the work place!
Personal experience and true life hardships with juggling all the demands of life/family etc require.
"A better way!"
Great to hear about a highly successful Level 5 leader in the corporate world who is driven by such wholesome Godly values.
