An introduction for someone who has no information

What disappointed you about Lean: The Bible: 7 Manuscripts?

Material seems very dated. Author takes time to describe a new technology called "e-mail" which not everyone is familiar with. The author indicates that a business may be helped by "getting online" and the cost savings of having an "intra-net" within the company to aid in communication. Provides bad / unbelievable premises like "The traditional progress of an idea is to assemble the team, build the product, market it, and sell it as hard as you can." are presented. Indicating without Lean, no one traditionally did market research, market testing, or communicated with the customer. Author claims in the Scrum section that the Scrum Team members are called "Pigs" and external resources "Chickens", based on a story of a chicken and pig opening a restaurant called Ham and Eggs. This is an older story and I have not heard people use it like this in over 5 years. If you decide to call your team members "Pigs" and those not in the team "Chickens", you might want to alert the HR department first, since they may be hearing about you soon. Author presents Acceptance Testing as something new and Agile. In general non-Lean, non-kanban, and non-Agile practices are presented in a negative light and extremely flawed.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Don't know.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bridger Conklin?

No idea. The narrator does an "ok" job, but talks slowly and at an even pace. Not sure how you can spice up the narration of this type of material.

What character would you cut from Lean: The Bible: 7 Manuscripts?

What character would I cut? lol. Really? There are no characters in this, it is an instructional text.

Any additional comments?

The review questions should be different based on the type of material being listened to. "What character would you cut" makes no sense if the book is an instructional text (like technology, science, psychology, etc.) Maybe ask the question of what section would you cut or what section would you want to know more information about.

No substance

Way too many subjects and no real substance about any. And... not a good “overview” either in my opinion.

Basic

An ok set of books, if you want an overall picture of these topics. Too much of repeat.

Sooooo many word, so little meat

This would have been a much better book without all the unnecessary sentences and repetition of the little meat that was there. It seemed like the author took three hours of material and crammed it into a ten hour book.

Out of the date

Lean methodology is not new, however, I was expected to learn about it and its usefulness in nowadays with up to time instruments and technologies.

Summaries are not always good

I should have expected this outcome by just reading at the title, but I did not like this book at all. I was drawn to some chapters, but since the author combined 7 different topics into a single book, the cover to cover value was lacking for me.
