While I'm sure this would make a wonderful book, it does not work at all as an audio book. The inclusion of statistic after statistic makes it impossible to get into the groove of the book. I found myself tuning out every time the narrator began "25 percent of women.... " I think a reworking of the book specifically for audio would be a great idea. I wanted to get into the meat of the book, but it bogged down with telling me WHY Ladies Launch, not HOW they launch. Wish I could recommend this one. I think their organization is wonderful, and their efforts are noble, but the audio book. Pass.
I would give this a much higher mark (4+ stars) for content than for listening experience. Great inspiration for women starting up. No revelations but very good encouragement and reframing of ideas. An ultimate 'you go girl' book. Good things to think about for raising daughters (ie relationship with money). However, the book includes MANY surveys, all of which are read out line by line, number by number. These should have been summarized as my mind wanders and loses the point every time. Listen if you don't have time to read, but read it rather than listen if you have a choice.
The authors of this book have some really good ideas, so it's unfortunate the audio version was produced as it was. The paper book contains many, many pages of statistical surveys, & unfortunately the narrator actually reads each one VERBATIM. Even worse, most of them are really obvious, e.g. "Percentage of people who are happier as Entrepreneurs", AND there is one chart for men & one for women for almost each quesion, so you have to listen to each table of results TWICE. I gave up after a couple hours of listening to the reader drone on and on and on, went to the bookstore, flipped through & gleaned what I could use from this book in about 5 minutes. I would suggest buying the book if the ideas are new or helpful to you, but I wouldn't subject yourself to the audiobook.
this book defines nothing as stated in its contents. How to launch a buisness? NO. Its all about...nothing. Nothing to the point of buisness starting, being creative,self-esteem, or happiness. I give it a one star because the narrator IS professional! Also, They Say "LADIES WHO LAUNCH" more than anyone can stand. 7 hours? Ladies... get with it. It was like an infomercial to auctually buy the real book !????
