Publisher's summary

This is the first book to present innovation and entrepreneurship as a purposeful and systematic discipline. It clearly explains and analyzes the challenges and opportunities of America's new entrepreneurial economy. Peter Drucker, the most influential and widely-read thinker and writer on modern organizations, gives us a superbly practical book that explains what established businesses, public service institutions, and new ventures have to know, have to learn, and have to do in today's economy and marketplace.

GOING OVER IT AGAIN

This is one of those books rife with educational business knowledge that you have to listen at least 3 times to implant the principles into your subconscious mind...and make them second nature to your thinking

Decent material, miserable presentation.

The book read like a textbook, which means that the approach was dry at times and occasionally hard to follow. The information was useful, but it was tough to pick out the valuable parts every now and then. The narrarator was terrible, monotone, and miserable. I'd rather read the book myself than liste to him read it.

Good story. Could use an update

A bit plain but several good concepts expecially in part II. Could do with an update with the latest companies.

Great Read

Should be standard text for anyone entering into business. A brilliant and insightful analyst who packs historical accuracy into current analysis on page after page. One of the best business books I have ever read (listened to!)

Come on, reader is okay!

I think the reader performed quite well. And while the book is good, there’s only so much a reader can do with such a dense—at at moments, quite frankly, boring—content.

A MUST read for any entrepreneur or innovator!!!

I have listened to this book literally 12 or 13 times and reviewed sections of it more than that! This is the definitive work on the systemization of innovation! I'm being literal when I say that this has to be the MOST significant book on the topic ever written! I'd put it on my shelf next to Good To Great!
5 stars all the way!!!

Old

I was listening to this book and started thinking, this Hass to be really dated. Are usually look at the release date but in this case I didn’t… 1999. That’s fine for a lot of books, but dealing with business and the economy, I was looking for something more current.

Best book I have read this year

For a book written so long ago it is still so up to date. I wonder if there has been a revision, it would be great to read and learn. A must read for all humans alive.

Good principles

It is a good book for principles. But definitely dated in some of the examples... It was interesting to hear what business imate was like in the 70s. History is important, but I skipped some of the details.

Brilliant

Drucker backs up his main points with a wealth of knowledge of the history of the evolution of business. One page we are tracing the development of bank financing in Germany, on another how Watson's interest in astronomy was a catalyst for IBM's development of the first commercially successful business computer.

Fascinating book. No problem with the narration, either.
