Being a marketing person my self, and an independant contractor. Looking for a w-2 job I was subconciously waiting for the interviewer to sell ME the job. Duh! Why did I not realize that I was what I was selling? Great new perspective for me. The questions and attitude of this online book is awesome.

Who is selling what?

I am a director of a leading recruitment firm and bought this primarily for new hints and tips to help me guide my candidate base. It?s Americanised and relatively basic but the hints are relevant and will help focus a ?careerseeker? at any level. The book is not ?what are you looking for? it?s ?how to land it?. So, if you?re looking for direction and career guidance this isn?t your book!
If you?ve been out of the job market a while and looking to excel in front of elite interviewers this will not do you any harm at all (particularly giving you the guidance to succeed at competency based interviews).
It?s not rocket science and there?s nothing groundbreaking here, just pretty straight talking, straightforward hints. If you?ve been out of work for a while and in need of some direction it is particularly relevant ? particularly the section on ?treat your ?job search? as a job?, target yourself, score yourself against the targets and see the progress. This simple, goal oriented approach works, particularly at senior levels and for those to whom the book is targeted, those looking to ?land their dream job?.
