Publisher's summary

With this latest work of fiction, a collaboration with New York Times writer, John Tierney, Christopher Buckley promises to be every bit as hilarious and witty as in his previous audiobook, Thank You for Smoking.

In God Is My Broker, Buckley aims his sharp humor at the self-help gurus; and the likes of Stephen Covey, Anthony Robbins, and Deepak Chopra had better watch out. Down to their last $304, the abbots in this story make a bunch of money playing the stock market - and then get carried away in today's commercialism and self-help principles when they begin to market their homemade wine. From redecorating their decrepit digs in the "peasant chic" style to outrageous television commercials to a "Cask-cade" water slide and artificial alp behind their monastery, (and passing off "decent Chilean table wine" as their own $16 a bottle brew) these monks will stop at nothing to get to the top of the wine business!

God Is My Broker includes actual excerpts from the writings of Robbins, Chopra, and Covey, and lists hysterical questions about God, money, etc., that followers of the "program" can ask themselves!

Don't miss Christopher Buckley, Steve Martin, and other humorists discussing their craft at the New Yorker Festival.

Entertaining. Great read.

Would you consider the audio edition of God Is My Broker to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the print version.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from God Is My Broker?

God always fill in the gaps that we lack to in our life to help us continue to row on the road we are on. There are many cracks and ditches along the road so just move forward in confidence and he will fill in the road where we need to go.

Funny and quick wit

Enjoyed the book throughly. Plot was easy to follow yet not obvious.....cracked me up like all of Buckley's books.

A real chuckle

Christopher Buckley and All, really know how to make you laugh out loud, which does make people look at you strangely when they can't hear what you are listening too. To bad for them because this is a very fun book. My only regret is it had to end.

Very funny and insightful

This is a funny book and I loved it while taking a long drive.

Mark is an excellent narrator! This book gives great insight on our over-indulgence in self-development.

best satire about self help books and the Industrial Religious Complex I remember reading

Not since “Mad Magazine” and Alfred E Newman has any author described better with SATIRE better than Brother Ty and his co writers.
