Allen's premise is simple: our ability to be productive is directly proportional to our ability to relax. Only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve stress-free productivity and unleash our creative potential. He teaches us how to:

"[Allen is] the personal productivity guru." (Fast Company)
I bought this book due in large part to the positive reviews. That was a mistake. The author's advice to getting organized: use a calendar to track appointments and a file cabinet to store documents. Really? If you are looking to get organized, I suggest you look elsewhere.
David lays out simply the rules, tools, tips and systems for getting things, how to stay on top of things, how to maximise the effectiveness of your time and your productivity. Good examples. Clear, engaging storytelling.
This is one of the best audiobooks I've listened to. Since it is read by the author, I felt like I was getting a personal coach for a fraction of the cost of a live coach. I do agree with another reviewer who stated that he also needed to buy the paperback version as a reference. I listened to the audiobook in my car and then read the book at home. (Since I had already listened to the text, I found I could quickly get through the reading and reviewing part at home.) Great book.
At the top.
Real practical application.
The same as the book. Getting Things Done
I'm new to the philosophy and have been applying it to my professional and personal systems for about a month. I am excited about the freedom, organization and success I've achieved.
Youth Worker in a Christian Religious Community a.k.a. Youth Pastor and a part-time stay-at-home dad with plenty of perfect opportunities for audiobooks.
Practical. Step-by-step. Get-going.
This is an entire approach to your entire life. That means both work and play.
This approach clears out your mind so that you have bandwidth for creativity and new ideas. You don't have to be overwhelmed when people approach you with advice anymore.
This is one of those books that you're going to want to listen to on your headphones while you're getting things done.
I never read the print version
David taught me how to get things done at work and at home. I am much more effective in my Business and personal life.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to make there live more productive and get things done!
Mr. Allen has a natural voice that is easy to listen to and made the book an absolute joed to listen to.
He adds his experience as a consultant in a way that apply to anyone who works and has to organize their personal and professional lives.
His personality resonates and adds flavor to the book since he wrote it.
Absolutely not. You need to listen, think about, and then go to the next set of topics.
This is a great book that made me immediately toss my Franklin Covey organizer and make my own so I could work more efficiently since I'm a firm believer that a
An avid learner and therefore, lover of non-fiction works, specifically about business, marketing and sales.
This is definitely a useful book and brilliant in its intent, but the PDF that you have access to just isn't adequate for the organizational visual you'll need as a reference. The author constantly refers to visual elements that are in the real book that you won't have and it makes fully understanding this book pretty tough. If you have both, then you have the best of both worlds and don't have to read a book, yet will have the physical form of it reference. Maybe they'll listen to this review and add some additional PDFs for reference. All and all the techniques in this book are highly useful and help anyone who doesn't want to work on a philosophy of organization just to get organized.
Not sure that is possible. After reading did not feel I was moving toward getting more things done than before.
Calm, witty, likeable
Not really, just not a good flow
I'm an audio learner and I listen to self-development books regularly. I would say the material in this book is fantastic if a bit difficult to absorb in audio version. I have yet to acquire the written format but intend to for the purposes of better grasping all the content.
