Publisher's summary

It’s time to take your business to the next level.

Eileen Sharp and Vic Hightower were frustrated. After years of profitable, predictable growth, Swan Services was in a rut. Meetings were called and discussions held, but few decisions were made and even less got done. People were pointing fingers and assigning blame, but nothing happened to solve Swan’s mounting problems. It felt as though they were working harder than ever but with less impact. The company Eileen and Vic had founded and built for 10 years was a different place. It just wasn’t fun anymore.

Their story is not unusual. The challenges they were facing are common, predictable, and solvable. Get A Grip tells the story of how Swan Services resolves its issues by implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System. With the help of EOS, Eileen, Vic, and their leadership team master a set of managerial tools that allow them to get traction on their business, grow the business, and deliver better results for clients.

The story of Swan Services is a fable, but the Entrepreneurial Operating System is very real and has helped thousands of businesses worldwide. A complete entrepreneurial toolkit, EOS has helped thousands of businesses get to where they want to be.

In Get a Grip, learn how Swan Services leaders learned to develop and commit to a clear vision, establish focus, build discipline, and create a healthier and more cohesive team.

With characters and situations created from collective business experiences and stories, Get a Grip is a fable that will ring true for entrepreneurial leaders the world over and guide them to get their companies on track.

Very Good Companion Book to "Traction"

Very good. Companion book to "Traction", one of my top-three-ranked all-time business books. A well-written, very realistic (it's basically what we've experienced over the past two years) fictional account of a company getting itself organized using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Of you are interested, call me at Hunter Rowe Real Estate or search "Ben Goetz" on Google and call him, he is our "EOS Implementer".

Life-Changer

Co-owning one of the states top real estate teams has been anything but glamorous. We sell real estate well and run the business poorly.

This book has already changed that and I can see immediate growth and results that I believe will create better lives and a better business!

Just another story retold

This book is a story version of “traction”. Some people might find it easier to follow in this format. I would recommend you read jim Collins good to great first. Then read traction and use the EOS tools to help your business.

Good content, but hard to listen to

The guy who reads this does a terrible job of breaking up sentences and thoughts. He reads it like one never-ending run-on sentence.

Painful performance

Would you try another book from Mike Paton and Gino Wickman and/or T. David Rutherford?

Not this narrator.

Would you ever listen to anything by Mike Paton and Gino Wickman again?

Not by this narrator

What didn’t you like about T. David Rutherford’s performance?

Rapid speaking with no change in tempo. Rapid fire monotone

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Painful performance

Any additional comments?

Maybe the book is ok. But I could not listen to this guy for more than one chapter.

EOS Must

EOS explained in a story format. This really helped me understand the main Principles of EOS.

A great example of Traction

I loved the book, it held my interest. I could hardly wait to see what happened next. The narrator's Voice inflection was spot-on and helped visualize the story very well. I highly recommend this book.

HR issues prevalent from beginning but no HR dept.

I didn't care for the narrative viewpoint of the book. From the start there were many HR issues and no HR Dept. Most of the people issues could have been avoided and recruiting done by HR instead of untrained Exec's trying to recruit. Either the authors hated HR or they have no grasp of what HR' s R&R's are. Strategic planning is also lead by HR with the Exec Team something they completely missed.
