This book is overly simplistic and the story ties out too easily. The book does not have enough practical information to make the time invested worthwhile. The story is very predictable from the start with few or any insights along the way.
This parable approach is interesting in book form, but it becomes too much of an airy fairy tale when narrated. Predictable from the start, overly simplistic and far too idealistic. This kind of approach worked well in the 80s and 90s but our culture has moved beyond it into more sophisticated needs. I've enjoyed other stuff by these authors but this was unrewarding as an audio book.
The 17 minute Fish video was inspiring, and I thought I would learn more listening to the audio book. I was wrong. The authors tried too hard to wrap up the information presented in the Fish video into a story. Unfortunately the story didn't work nor did it add anything substantial. I would highly recommend renting or purchasing the Fish video for your department and watch it as a group. Pass on the book. The only positive of the audio book is the lovely voice of Ms. Kasdan.
