This book gives a great overview for the real estate investor. It tells you which type of people you need to create your real estate team and why. It also gives you a generalized view of how to build your business. It does not explain how to determine a good or bad deal, what factors are important in the market, or things specific to a real estate transaction. It's pretty much a long winded book of who to use on your team and why. If you are looking for how to invest in real estate, this isn't the book. But, use this book to complement other resources.

If you've read the E-Myth you won't get anything new from this. Same stories from Gerber. I thought I wasn't going to like Than because he sounds like a used car salesman but he wasn't bad.
No, A few chapters were skipping. If they can fix that then absolutely!
Yes, I listened to E-Myth Revisited. I was very impressed with that book. This one was very similar but got into more detail into real estate investing.
Not sure if it was my device or what, but Than Merrill's chapters kept skipping without advancing the playhead. It looked like it was the file itself, not the software. Very dissappointed as I loved the content of the book.
The content is great and made me think about new ways to run my business.
Michael Gerber sounds like he smoked 10 packs a day and was gasping for breath. I had to play his parts at 2x speed to get through it - very distracting. Because of his voice, I cannot listen to another book by him. Sorry Michael, please hire a professional voice actor.
I had hoped for more specific application to real estate investing, the nuts and bolts kind of thing. In that way the book was disappointing... but if you've never read the original e-myth, you really need to and this book seems a good substitute for Real Estate Investors.
I read the real estate rehab bible by Paul Esajian and I loved it. While I liked this book, I feel the authors were promoting a bit too much. In Paul's other book, he gave free resources and while he mentioned his company, he wasn't so blunt to advertise. Nonetheless, I got some good ideas to apply in my business plan and recommend for anyone that is planning on starting a business in real estate to listen to this book.
Really enjoyed Michael's setup of the chapters and Than's examples and details.
I bought the original E-Myth book back in 1990 and it changed my business so I was able to sell it. Now, Than gives broad accounting of what to do and how to do it in this book. Obviously, he can't give details of every aspect he describes or the book would be 1,000 pages long. For those serious about taking their real estate investment business from a mom and pop business to a well oiled, money machine that runs on its own systems, get this book and follow up with everything they tell you to do.
If you want to create a business and not just have a job of your own, this is the book to read. It's very practical and it doesn't give you all the steps for the pointer in the right direction. It's mildly a sales pitch for Fortune Builders but that's OK. It still works.
If you are serious about building and sustaining a successful business, this book is a must. I am not sure how some people can give negative ratings for a book that is supplying truth. At the very beginning, he specifies that this is not a book to teach you the technicalities of how to negotiate, find deals, analyze, etc. It's much deeper than that. It's about your mentality and preparation in order to build a business. As for those that said his voice is annoying... lol... give me a break, for the short instances that Gerber speaks, it won't kill anyone.
Once again, excellent book!
