From the title you are lead to believe that the topic at hand is Buzz; however, this couldn't be farther from the truth. Rather what you get is an amalgamation of facts and stories surrounding the author, Edward Koch's career. I did listen to the whole audiobook and even though the author does go off on tangents about his civil service days there are still valid points being made about buzz without the author even realizing it. General guidelines are provided about mapping your success with a "buzz" campaign but they are general tips for any marketing plan. The one thing I will say for Edward Koch after listening is the guy has moxy.
This book is not about creating buzz, it is a bibliography of Ed Koch. Based on the first hour of the audio, I can say he is a selfish, self promoting, and rub-my-accomplishments in your face type of guy. For god's sakes, he starts reading dozens of letters he wrote and the response he got back. This should be titled "Bibliography of Ed Koch selfishly written by Ed Kosh"
I think the title should be, how "Ed Koch uses the book Buzz to create his own Buzz." I was pretty disappointed with the book. Originally I was looking for a book that might discuss how to build a Press Buzz or how to market to journalists with story pitches. It didn't discuss any of the how to... it had more of a this is how I manage responds from the public, this is what my public speaking engagements look like, and this is what I did when I was mayor of NYC sorta touch.
