Updated business wisdom from the founder of Dogfish Head, the nation's fastest growing independent craft brewery....
Starting with nothing more than a home brewing kit, Sam Calagione turned his entrepreneurial dream into a foamy reality in the form of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, one of America's best and fastest-growing craft breweries.
In this newly updated Second Edition, Calagione offers a deeper real-world look at entrepreneurship and what it takes to operate and grow a successful business. In several new chapters, he discusses Dogfish's most innovative marketing ideas, including how social media has become an integral part of the business model and how other small businesses can use it to catch up with bigger competitors. Calagione also presents a compelling argument for choosing to keep his business small and artisanal, despite growing demand for his products.
For any entrepreneur with a dream, Brewing Up a Business, Second Edition presents an enlightening, in-depth look at what it takes to succeed on their own terms.

Thanks to an English degree Sam Calagione is an excellent story teller. This is a great book about staring your own small business. Sam's small business happens to be a brewery so that's where all of his examples come from. If you've ever considered opening a brewery or need some creative ideas in your small business read this book.
It was very dull - the accents from time to time were unnecessary.
It would have been far better if Sam actually read it himself...
I found this book difficult to listen to based on the absence of contractions - It was like listening to a computer read to me. Also, the book barely touches the business side of things outside the experience of this one brewer and his company, and I was hoping for more market-wide examples. Therefore I thought the title was a bit misleading - perhaps it could've had a subtitle like "The story of Sam Calagione and Dogfish Head Brewery" instead of the broad "Adventures in Beer"...
The first 7 chapters or so we're dedicated to the enthusiasm of why he started his company, then at chapter 8 (or close) his business mindset took off, and provides valuable insight on what is takes to run a company
Great read/listen. Great business insight and takes care not to sugar coat anything. Highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to start a business.
"the small business bible"
great infomation and ideas well worth a listen especially if you're keen on brewing. if only the narrator could pronounce the word niche properly and not say nitch it would be even better!
