Publisher's summary

Since it was first introduced in the multi-million-copy best seller The Goal, Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt's Theory of Constraints (TOC) has emerged as one of the most flexible and effective approaches to management and problem solving in the corporate world. Now taught in business schools everywhere and successfully used in companies of all sizes around the world, TOC has changed the way a generation of professionals maximize profits and resources by focusing on and clearing the constraints that get in their way.

In Beyond The Goal, Dr. Goldratt elaborates on his profoundly influential theories in a straightforward, practical, and pragmatic presentation designed to help you put these powerful ideas to valuable use. Speaking with the brilliance and insight that has made him a sought-after teacher and top consultant, Dr. Goldratt addresses some of the most asked-about elements of understanding and applying TOC, including:

  • The basic assumptions of TOC
  • Why management assumptions must be changed to obtain lasting, bottom-line results
  • What is necessary and sufficient to establish a foundation for future success
  • The rules of operations, project management, and distribution
  • How to implement TOC as a holistic approach to continuous improvement

Whether you're new to Dr. Goldratt's philosophy, or a TOC veteran looking for fresh strategies for turning turn concepts into consequences, Beyond The Goal makes it abundantly clear why joining the Theory of Constraints revolution has never been easier, or more important for your company and your career.

Contagious.

A pleasure to hear Goldratt speak passionately about his findings and applications. A must follow up to The Goal.

A great compliment to The Goal

This is not like Eli‘s normal novel books. This is more of a lecture given by Eli himself. Don’t expect a boring or monotone lecture though as he is very animated! I received tremendous value from the points made as it pulled together many of the TOC concepts across the business functions. I even listened to it a second time just to absorb it all. Highly recommended.

Engaging, challenging

A six hour master class on TOC. I now am ready for more. Sometimes the author / narrator was difficult to understand, but going slower and rewinding helped.

Mr. Eliyahu thoughts about what is after The Goal

It was very nice to hear Mr. Eliyahu himself talking about what is beyond the Goal. His ideas about how things are working in the IT field and what is the value added of systems like CRM, ERP etc, are a great listening.

As a closure for his books I recommend to listen what's beyond the Goal.

Complexity made common sense

I wish I had the opportunity to meet Dr Goldratt while he was alive. Listening to him is like listening to a master orator who takes you on a journey that deconstructs things we perceive as extremely complex into mind blowing commensensical truths that apply to any and every organization (while laughing all the way). He has forced me to start challenging many assumptions I've held for so long, and also motivated me to challenge others. Rest in peace Dr. You truly changed the world.

A great companion to The Goal

What made the experience of listening to Beyond the Goal the most enjoyable?

I listened to Beyond the Goal immediately following The Goal so the concepts were fresh in my mind. While the story format of The Goal made the concepts memorable and easy to understand, it was beneficial to have them laid out in a more formal presentation.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have liked to, though I think it would be a bit much to internalize all that is discussed. The presentations are divided in a way that makes it easy to pick up where you leave off. You may want to listen to this and set it aside for a few weeks before you listen again.

Any additional comments?

I actually enjoyed having Goldratt narrate the book despite some of the poor reviews. It was similar listening to speeches given by Reagan versus having them performed by someone else.
