Publisher's summary

Here is the critically acclaimed inside story, now in an expanded edition, about the rise and fall of Philadelphia's notorious Scarfo organization. Blunt and unsparing, it is a firsthand account of murder, money, and corruption told by wiseguy-turned-witness Nick Caramandi, whose testimony put Nicky Scarfo and many of his associates behind bars for the rest of their lives. A prime target for hit men to this day, Caramandi continues to survive only through the government's Witness Protection Program. In this updated edition of Blood and Honor, author George Anastasia picks up the story where he left off, filling us in on the fates of all the characters - major and minor - in recent years.

Contains mature themes.

Entertaining to say the least

Book takes you completely away from whatever you’re doing. I found myself in traffic thoroughly entertained. I learned a lot and enjoyed the book.

Interesting story.

Definitely no surprise the crow rated. after all, we're taking about the guy who tried to hustle a kid out of his baseball card money. Plenty of blood, but not much honor. Regardless, the book was an excellent read(listen). The author and narrator are both perfect!

Narrator sucks.

This narrator is hard to listen to when he reads mafia books. He should read Childress books.

a good read

I read this book a long time ago. I can't give an opinion about the audio. it is a good read and some of it is actually funny . this book made me seek out Philly LCN booms. For my $$$ the Philly mob is more entertaining with more palace intrigues and deviousness. NYC gets the acclaim but 80s Philly LCN was like a gladiator pit.

Interesting insight into Philly during Scarfo era

Listened to interviews from Phil Leonetti and Ralph Natale before reading this. Was interested in the Philly underworld (not little Nicky specifically I knew he was a psychopath and an egomaniac) and this one delivered on what life was like in both the Angelo Bruno and Scarfo era.

Good also to get an account on what Leonetti and others were like as they always tend to paint Scarfo as the only bad guy and everybody else as victims. They were all bad. Don't expect to find any semi decent guys or Godfather like mobsters in this story.

recommended to anyone interested in Nicky Scarfo or anyone around him or the Philly mob during the 70-80's in general.

Incredible Book

George Anastasia’s book does an incredible job of giving the reader the perspective of Nick the Crow. Understanding the development of his mob tenure and how the Philadelphia mafia’s destruction happened in a chronological personal account has been delightful to listen to. The narrator did an awesome job as well.

Scarfo a true cold blooded gangster

The story tells the first hand stories and life of a Philly mob capo turned snitch. The story shares details inside the Philly mob during the Scarfo ruling era. If you enjoy this, check out Mafia Prince.

Amazing!!!

The narrator Joe Barrett killed it as usual! I think as far as Mafia and organized crime genres this book ranks in the top five. It grabbed my attention right from the beginning and all the way through to the end of the book. truly a great book!

Pretty Good

I like the view of the Scarfo era from a regular guy, and not Leonetti who saw it from the top down. I don’t love it that rats get final say on these stories but even still this was a good one. Worth a listen for sure. Narrator isn’t great but not bad enough to ruin it.
